What are your three favourite console launch titles?

You may be right, I can't for the life of me think if it was launch day in the UK or Europe.

I think many people list the game that made them buy the console and that's not always a launch game. A few people have mentioned Soul Calibur and that was not one either!

EDIT: I brought a Dreamcast on UK launch day and I specifically remember that Soul Calibur was not available. On Wiki, their does appear to be a discrepancy between the launch of Soul Calibur (The game was launched before the console) and the Dreamcast itself. Hmm...

2. Halo - XBox - Brought the FPS right to the fore on consoles

3. Ridge Racers - PSP - still stands up as a top title today

Regarding Soul Calibur - I bought my unmodded, sealed PAL Dreamcast, on launch day in and inde shop Stratford and I bought a PAL copy of Soul Calibur at the same time.

Now, that said, I'm 41 years old. Please tell me I'm not going senile already!!

That seems to have rather a lot of fans. Never got into the series myself, maybe have to track a copy down one day.

SoulCalibur wasn't a launch title in the UK, but I think it was in America. I distinctly remember it being released here a good 6-8 weeks or something after the console and being reviewed in the 2nd or 3rd issues of the newly-launched Dreamcast-specific mags.

VF3tb, Sonic Adventure, Sega Rally 2 & Powerstone (there's a good launch title that's not been mentioned much) were the games I picked-up on day one with my Dreamcast.

1. PS2 - SSX - Cracking game.

Yeah would have to put that as my number 1 also and was the reason i bought a PS2. I remember when i first played it i was amazed at the vastness of the levels and some of the amazing moves you could pull off. The sequel SSX Tricky i thought was the best of the series and best Snowboarding game of all time. Despite the average framerate the courses were incredible and by far the best ever invented for a snow boarding game.

the other 2 launch games that spring to mind are Mario 64 and Super Monkey Ball the latter i bought with the Cube on the GAME midnight opening for the Gamecube. launch

Yes FSW me and you must be going senile ( im a year older, my excuse ) , the wiki say soul calibur released on december 1st 1999. And 14th october for the dreamcast , though PAL its says 3rd of december for dreamcast , is this where the discrepancy is?
