    Winter Games

I have been inspired by the snow fest that we are having to get stuck into some snow/ice based games.

I have had Amped 3 sitting on my shelf for ages but the 'craaazy' humour put me off. I have decided to give it another shot, and so far it seems ok, but not quite as good as Amped 2, but I'm going to keep going with it.

I also have 1080 Avalanche on the Gamecube, which I enjoyed a lot back when I first had it, so I'm thinking of giving that a go too.

Lastly I have purchased that NHL Arcade title that is 200 points this week on XBLA, and it's pretty good fun. It's basic but a great 2 player game, and kinda like an ice hockey version of Mario Smash Football.

Anyone else busting out some Winter games?

Imagine if you were playing 'Winter Games' on the C64!
    The biathlon was class!

      I might play Extermination. I REALLY wish they'd make a PS3 sequel.
      Kept you waiting, huh?

Stoked. Been playing it a bit recently after forking out for my snowboarding holiday in Jan. I love it.

I could go on for ages about fighting with the controls, but once you have them dialled, you can pull off all sorts of smooth lines. And my stomach flops every time the ground falls away on the big hits.

Snow in videogames is wonderful. No matter the genre. Recieved 3D Dot Game Heroes in the mail today, hopefully that will have some. Snow coupled with an old school 2D adventure could be magical.

You ever play Amped 3 or Shaun Whites? How does it compare?

              Great winter treats.

Yeah, played all the Ampeds. Not tried SW - need to get that sorted.

Stoked is all about the powder and off piste back country, so it's a totally different riding experience. It's also much more natural / realistic in the same way Skate is pretending to be a sort of sim of skateboarding. So in Stoked, even the little things feel like an accomplishment.

                In order:

1080 (but I guess this is nostalgia to a certain extent).
                Stoked
                1080 Avalanche
                Amped 3
                SSX Tricky
                Amped 1
                Amped 2
                Cool boarders

                  Lost Planet has hella snow.

I used to enjoy the old Medal of Honor Allied Assault in the winter as it had some good snow levels if I remember correctly.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories is a good winter game as it adds to it if you have a bit of a chill in you.

1080 & 1080 Avalanche are both awesome - I regularly bust out the Gamecube for some snowboarding action.

Charles loves Stoked so I might see if I can pick up a copy today at work - been ages since I played a new snowboarding game.

Apparently there is a new SSX in development which would be awesome.

Non-sports winter games, for me, would include Fahrenheit due to it's setting. Nothing like sitting down with a nice, warm cup of tea and solving a murder!

Along the same lines, the first Max Payne. Also, Freedom Fighters.

EDIT - Man, I want to play Freedom Fighters right F-ing now.

I'm planning a fourth run through Uncharted 2 over Xmas. Despite the Napal bits the snowy bits feel very wintery.

I may give Stoked a go after I'm done with Amped 3 (if i'm still after more snow games). Amped 3 is growing on me, but the forced "dude" humour is doing my nut it. It's so in your face and "zany".

As for Shaun White Snowboarding, I did have a copy, but I really couldn't get into it.

                            Uncharted 2. Partially. No?

Also, Tomb Raider 2 Tibetan foothill levels. Bought back then at christmas, played at christmas. Much christmas.
