    Shining Hearts PSP

Shining Hearts PSP is out now.

    http://shining-world.jp/hearts/ << Official site.

From PA blurb: Developed by Sega and with artwork drawn by Tony Taka (Shining Wind/Tears),Shining Hearts is a beautiful and enchanting RPG that will take your breath away.

When Kaguya is washed up your island, she has no memories and no emotions. Through everyone's care and kindness, though, the girl slowly opens her heart to let others in.

However, peace didn't last, for the pirates have appeared, aiming for Kaguya's heart key. Protect the key and set off on a journey with her to find her past.

During your trip, you'd meet with a number of girls, recruit them into your team so you can use combine skills. These attacks will affect your affinity with the girls and influence your game ending. Let's see who you'll end up with.

Looks nice and I like Tony Taka's art (*cough*). This is never going to get localised though.

I yearn for the Saturn one. Shining Wisdom I think it was. Could be purely nostalgia but I played it years ago, don't seem to have it any more and really want to play it again.

Shining Wisdom was great. The way you ran was irritating though.

It's somewhat hard to get too enthusiastic about all these Shining-games-in-name-only. Sega need to get Camelot back on board and create a proper Shining Force 4. This would be idea for, say, the 3DS. They may have had a tiff, but that was 12 years ago.

To be fair, Shining xyz has been sega's catch all for any orcs and elves fantasy RPG since the Saturn.

Try after the Saturn my friend as that's when Camelot stopped making the series Shining Force 3 was the last real shining game.

After that they did just use it as a catch all, the logo design really is stealing from Kingdom hearts as well great shame.

As Shakey_Jake33 it really is hard to care about these new games.

Mind you that said Camelot's latest game Golden Sun: Dark Dawn really is a very good game.

There's actually a campaign to get Camelot back into the series, as part of the 20th anniversary. Check it out - http://sos.shiningforcecentral.com/

I don't think you quite understand Camelot, they liked to try to make different styles of RPG's within a series. Unlike many RPG series which are just copy and paste sequels. The Shining series started as a dungeon crawl game in Shining in the Darkness on Megadrive, Shining Force came out a year after that.

Beside both these games were before SF3 and STHA is a very good RPG and both are Camelot game and continue the Shining series storyline, Wisdom takes place directly after Shining Force 2 and has some of it's characters in it.

Shining Wisdom was Camelot first attempt at a live action RPG (Zelda Clone) is was originally a Mega-CD. It's not bad either and has some nice charm like the Daytona Car, more a hardware development learning game I expect.

Shining the Holy Ark is a direct gameplay sequel to Shining in the Darkness on Mega drive and story wise it is the direct prequel to Shining Force 3. It's arguably Camelot's best game ever and Golden Sun gameplay wise is just STHA 2, 3 & 4.

Kaladron, while the petition is a nice idea, there are far more serious issues involved between Camelot and Sega that need fixing. Sadly I’m also aware of what happens to most of these type of petitions when they arrive at the desk of companies. Still Camelot do listen but with their on going projects and Sega’s bad management and WWW it seems unlikely we will see a Camelot Shining game in the near future.

I hear you, though I think this is more than just a regular "petition". It's a concentrated campaign involving video dedications, magazine adverts and a huge birthday box for the 20th anniversary. The box will be filled with letters, fan art and other presents for Camelot to show that it's their involvement that is important to the Shining series and not the IP itself.

You're right that there's an unfortunate history between Sega and Camelot but I don't believe it can't be repaired. There are certain things that have happened behind the scenes in the last year or so that give me hope.

In short Sega need to pay money to Camelot to make Shining Force IV. Mind you the fact that Sega never directly made Shining Force IV suggested at least one producer or director wanted to see a sequel from Camelot.

As of yet my sources within Sega haven't return any good news, so I'll just wait till the day it appears if it ever does.

Still I've just picked up all the PS2 and DS shining games for christmas to see what the horror is like!

It’s a nice idea but in all seriousness we would do better if a large group of Shining fans turn up outside Sega Europe/US/Japan’s offices and started a protest. Get the media to turn up as well and your on national news, people would take serious notice of that.

LOL. I assume you're joking on that last bit. Not quite tuition fees is it?

The modern games aren't all bad. Shining Soul II is a good little Diablo-lite and Shining Force Feather is genuinely good if you can hack through the language barrier.

I have a copy of Shining Hearts on its way from YesAsia as we speak. Still not so sure about it but I like that it's developed in-house at Sega and not farmed out to one of the usual budget RPG studios.
