Do you try and limit the number of games...

Do you try and limit the number of games you own per console?

I mean, say for instance you have one of this generations consoles - Would you limit the amount of games you own - Like to say 20, and then trade or sell to keep within that? Or do you just keep buying and collecting and end up with 50+ games?

I guess the benefits of keeping your collection low - You only have the very best of the games you bought. Its easier to sell as a package in future if you needed to. It saves space. And it probably saves money!

Not as such, although with some consoles I tend to find I'm more "choosey" with my purchases than others.

For instance; I have about 72 games for my PS2, some of which are right turkey's, but I might've bought them because they were a impulse buy or in a bargain or something like that. Where as, with my GameCube, I have about 20 odd games, which I'm far more selective with what I buy. Ditto with the XBox too.

I'm not a collector & I've never owned vast quantities of games for any system - I've always sold or traded those that were surplus to requirements.

The most for any system I have/have had is for the GC = 28

How do you motivate yourself to sell or trade? I have about 8 games in my GC collection that I can't see myself playing again but couldn't make myself get rid of I reckon!

It really depends on how much/what I can get for the games in question - the problem is that the 2nd hand worth of games eems to devalue so quickly (unless it's collector's stuff) that sometimes it's not worth getting rid. If I'll get nowt for it, I hang onto it.

i'm very picky (and poor), so i dont really have to limit myself.

i dont have more than 20 games for any console, but i do have them all. if i had only a ps2 i really dont think i would have bought more ps2 games...i buy all the ones that appeal to me.

...but i will never sell any games anymore. i used to look at my collection of snes and megadrive games and think i would never-ever use them, and sold them off. now i wish i had them, so even though i have a bunch of games i havent played for months, i wont sell them...one day i'll want them.

I have the problem loads of people are stating too, i have loads of games on older consoles. But i want to sell them because i dont play them, but if i sell them i'll miss them.......

              Its one big horrible dilemma....

On this generation of machines yes. Not so much limit myself as there are only maybe 1 or 2 titles per month I want so I dont really have to linit my purchases.

So I spend most of my cash on Neo Geo MVS carts and Arcade PCB's. Plus the odd Megadrive ?2 bargain.

I only buy what I'm going to play for hours and hours on end. Anything else is just a complete waste of money.

My collection is mainly 2D fighters spanning from the DC to the AES to the NGPC. I have a nice collection of around 40 2D fighters. As for everything else I only own around 10-15 games per console.

Mind you, I'm currently collecting PAL snes games because they're damn cheap and still good fun - I have around 50 carts although I can't say any of them are turkeys. I'd say the most mediocre of the bunch are the Star Wars trilogy of games, and they're hardly mediocre. They've dated very well for only being 'average' games back in the day. These deserve a GBA release.

I don't limit but I don't feel the need to own everything straight away.

YES! I have been doing recently. I sold off ALL my PAL GC games and bought only 10% of them back in NTSC format. I now only have 5 games for my GC (inc F-Zero GX arriving tomorrow ) and it is great.

Finally I'm actually putting more time into may games instead of just playing and getting stuck and moving on. It is much better. I feel more motivated to push each game further. I reccomend it to ANYONE.

I've been putting atleast 4 hours a night into KotOR and I can't get enough of it...

Only AAA titles for me from now on...

                      GREAT STUFF.

I limit myself. At the moment I have:

                        GC - 0 games
Xbox - 6 games (soon to be less)
                        ps2 - 5 games
                        GBA SP - 1 game

                        I buy, I play, I enjoy, I sell, I buy, I play, I enjoy, I sell etc

I neither have the money or time to have a large collection of games. I enjoy the games I have more and save money. On a related matter I also do not play emulators.

I can't do that see. I like to keep the games that I've enjoyed. I sold SMS in PAL, and bought it straight back in NTSC. I dunno, it could be emtional attachments, but I really think that in a few months I could go back to it and complete it again, maybe get over 100 shines this time.

When I have a game in my collection (especially if my collection is small) I get more out of it and do go back to them after months/years of no play!

I just can't sell them on again... How could I leave all those saves on my memory card with no chance of using them again... And don't you dare suggest I delete them. I just couldn't do that!
