    Where does your money go?

Eurogamer have a very interesting article here about games, their RRPs and where the monies go.

?3 out of your ?40 goes to the developer, what about the rest? It's in there. Very interesting, you can get a good feel for why the market is like it is from this.

"Metacritic is used as benchmarks for quality."

    Interesting stuff to read.

I read that earlier. I didn't comment on Eurogamer per se, but the VAT calculation is wrong (they took 17.5% of 40 quid, when it should be 17.5% of the price before tax) and there's no way that most shops (even GAME) make 25% on a new title; they'll be lucky to get 10%.
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Yeah, I find it funny when a retailer stuffs it up "we pay your VAT" or "VAT free" and they deduct 15 / 17.5 / 20% from the price, giving you more discount than you should get.

        Eurogamer should have had...

        100 / 117.5 * Cost
so with 40 quid, that makes the unit ?34.04, and the VAT therefore 40 - 34.04 = ?5.96

More importantly, no mention of developer / publisher rip off pre-owned sales...
