Ridge Racer 7 is the one and pinnacle so far for me, it pretty much has all the tracks, music & cars, great handling, looks and sounds amazing still.

R4 im 50/50 on, the structure is a bit beard but for sure it has the most awesome intro.

Same here, 7 was and is the best followed by one and the second psp game.

I want Ridge Racer 8 to be like Ridge Racer 7 with trophies, dual shock support and storyline / videos like Ridge Racer Type 4 that would be perfick.

It's a big franchise of Namco's but they don't half treat it poorly. Let's be honest, the only reason that they only have Ridge Racers typically ready around launch times is because it allows them to make the minimum of effort and dev costs whilst still pulling in those early adopters who just want something half decent to play. Any of the recent Ridge Racers would get crushed at retail if they launched years into the lifecycles. The games are massive fun but I'd love to see Namco treat the series with a bit more respect and do a properly invested installment.

Hang on. Namco treat them poorly but they are massive fun? Wonder what they would be like if Namco tried harder!

I do see what you are saying though, the series does feel like an afterthought now, certainly the latest games. Personally I hated the millions of races on the 360 version and the horrible futuristic feel the game had ruined it.

The series needs a return to its name, Ridge Racer. To me that is driving sports cars around awesome twisty mountain tracks. Not this boosting nonsense.

With even just a relatively up to date engine and up to date netcode the potential is there to make an amazing and current regular racer series out of it. It's a shame they only do them at machine launches and even then you have to cross your fingers and hope they've decided to make an effort instead of pulling an RR64

The first time i played a ridge racer game was 'Rage Racer' I instantly fell in luv with the music... Prior to this I had only ever watched it from the side lines, most memorable at the side of the arcade version where an actual carcus of a car was used - spare no expense!

But my first proper Ridge Racer game which I own etc was from a forumite who sold me a Japanese version of Ridge Racer 5 (can't remember who you are now im afraid, but a BIG thank you!) I instantly clicked with teh drifting and have never looked back!

I do own RR7, but it does not get rinsed half as much as RRV......... It seems like memorable music is something Ridge Racer games are synonmous with, with every iteration...

Look like Type 4 has pretty easily taken the crown
