It'll be back in some form in the not so distant future, but to me music game genre seemed like a fad, it was suddenly everywhere and that kind of craze often doesn't last.
Most people, myself included probably got bored with the whole concept of music games and didn't want to constantly keep buying new games, song packs, DLC songs etc.

Always a shame to see studios close but I'm not really surprised.
I know it's happened to many genres but this genre in particular seems to have been pretty stagnant for ages. The last music game I bought was the Beatles one and that was only because of the band and even then for me it was far less enjoyable to play than older games such as Frequency, Amplitude, Space Channel 5, Mad Maestro, Rez, Vib-Ribbon, etc.
Hopefully the with the lack of popularity in these types of games will allow for developers to return to the more abstract games which will preferably be playable with a standard pad.
EDIT:
Although it's not I'm also going to include flower as a music game, it's very different to many others but it did remind me of the much more abstract feeling that these games used to give you.Last edited by JP; 09-02-2011, 20:41.
