My understanding is that the contract for the Houser Brothers expires in 2012. The Houser Brothers have been described as the 'heart and soul' of Take 2, with significant influence, although I really know little about it.
Then again, it's surely the IP that Activision are after. They would probably prefer to drop the existing GTA team and get a faster team on the job anyway.
This would settle Activision's IP drought for now. Then in a few more years, expect most of the former Take 2 studios to close once the IP's have lost their value. A smart member of Take 2 would be wise to jump ship sooner rather than later if they are able to.
