I know this was mentioned briefly in one of the game shows last year but I've not heard anything about it since then and couldn't find a thread for the game.
It's now been rated by the ESRB so hopefully it won't be too long before we can download it. I've not been able to find that much information but this covers most of what I've found.

The Art of Yars' Revenge
- The story isn't a continuation of the original game, but it bears some similarities. You've been exposed to radiation after an accident on an insectoid-inhabited planet and you're trying to escape.
- Yars' Revenge is the first title to come out of Killspace Entertainment, which is primarily made up of ex-Pandemic, EALA, Obsidian and Red 5 developers.
- Based on Xbox 360 controls, the right-trigger fires the main weapon, the pulse laser which is the standard cannon fodder firearm. The left-trigger, when held down, lets you paint lock-ons and launch missiles (up to six at a time) when LT is released. Right bumper is for the rail gun, a weapon that packs a punch and requires a cool-down period as a trade off.
- As a throwback to the original game, pressing A throws up a regenerative shield.
- In the tradition of many Japanese side-scrolling shooters, Yars' also features a number of consumable power-ups. Some hunt down enemies, others block enemy projectiles, and there is the obligatory screen-clearing bomb.
- No modern shooter would be complete without a point multiplier, so expect to chain kills throughout each level. There is a whole sub-game within the game for those who want to boost their scores.
- While there won't be online co-op, Yars' Revenge does offer local 2-player co-op.
- The characters' anime-inspired design call to mind other western-developed games with the anime aesthetic like Oni, Sudeki and Shogo.
- Atari's attempt at rebooting this title that many remember from the Atari 2600 is presented as a 100% fixed camera on-rails shooter. The publisher's on-site spokesperson said that while they were considering giving the game branching-off points, Killspace opted to keep things simple and stick to their short XBLA/PSN development timeline. Those who enjoyed Rez, Panzer Dragoon, and Sin and Punishment might want to keep an eye out for this.
