    GAME to trial pre-owned, pre-orders

On the web store with selected titles, all ?33.99.
UK video games retailer GAME has begun offering pre-orders for pre-owned versions of the latest titles, MCV understands. - MCV/DEVELOP

Says more about the state of GAME than anything else if they are now going down this route.

That's pretty horrible. Pre-order (which raises associations of 'day one, brand-new') pre-owned (second-hand) games? It's like some kind of depressing retail-themed time-paradox.

Saw this a couple of days back when I was checking out the Crysis 2 page. Wasn't too surprised to be honest

This is getting way out of hand, the way retail stores are handling pre-owned stuff is doing some pretty major damage to the industry and its screwing over the people trading in their titles too (who get crap money).

It's only going to encourage more games with single use keys crippling them second hand .

Just to add some content (as if it's needed) this really reeks of desperation to claw back ailing profits to me. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

This is ultimately self-defeating. If everyone pre-orders pre-owned, how will they get enough people trading in copies to fill the orders?

            Madness.

              This:

What's bizarre is the price. Not only because that's far less than GAME would normally sell a newish pre-owned game for, but also because you could order a new copy for that if you shop around.

Those pre-owned preorder prices are hilarious.

Horrible idea - rips off those selling games and buying games, and will further aggravate 'the industry' into taking draconian measures to clamp down on pre-owned games. Shows you how desperate Game are though.

I don't mind the whole 'one use multiplayer' code thing. As long as they're actually available to buy from the store!

More money to the developers, less to GAME I say.
