I actually liked Resident Evil Zero, but it's a game where you have to be a big enough fan to play through it's faults. Capcom experimented quite heavily with the game, and most of the experiments didn't really work. Changing the inventory system/removing the item boxes wasn't a bad idea in itself, but they failed to replace either of those changes with a real alternative. On my first playthough, I must have spent more time transporting dropped items from one part of the game to another (only to find out later that there was no need, thanks to the elevator later on that takes you back to the start). The partner system didn't really work too well either, it was quite forgettable.

Those gripes aside, I enjoyed it.

The partnering system, was IMO the precursor to what we have not if RE5, albeit slightly more refined - but the AI is a nightmare at times, and just emptys out your limited suply of ammo.

Gotta ask the question, of all the battles in all the series, which was your most memorable?

One of the stand out moments for me was in Remake, where you were required to obtain various masks to unlock a coffin in a crypt, which was a real treat, as every mask that was inserted unlocked a chain which spilled blood and let off unsettling cry and moans from what was obviously an undead corpse from within. Spine Chilling stuff!

But I know what you meant. Still I absolutely love Nemesis, one of the best RE bosses/antagonists ever!
Maybe... but he was boring, over-used, predictable, less intimidating and from what I remember easier to take down. His entrances and overall character were seriously lacking in everything apart from added "STAAARRRRRSZZZZZZ!!!!11111".

It's like giving Pyramid Head dual handguns and putting him in SH3.

Agree with your criticisms, and must say I enjoyed the title too. I just think it was a lost opportunity to get a fresh perspective on the events in the first game. There were tons of stuff they could have added. We could finally meet the entire Bravo Team, maybe even see how the interacted with Wesker or other people from Alpha Team. Could start the game maybe a week before the events, some puzzle and character interactions in their HQ before they take off. Play the part between the chopper and the mansion. Instead we got a new generic "mansion", with disappointingly few ties to the first game. And Billy was such a forgettable chracter, with no impact on the story. Would have been so much cooler to play as another Bravo Team member. Imagine playing as Kenneth or Forest up until the point where they were killed by zombies and crows - respectively.

It would have been a bit silly though if they'd survived all the events of Zero, only to be killed by mere zombies or crows.

I suppose the mansion wasn't great, but the rest of it was awesome I thought, and all the games have their low points I'd say. The way it dealt with items was a bit clunky and a pain, but that would be my only real complaint. Also, I liked the Billy character.

There's been 5 games set after the original and only one set before it, so you can't expect it to nail everything you'd want from a prequel - they should make a few more I think. I think each sequel has had a satisfactory ending, it's the back story and preceding events that we want to see more of!

I think they could've scrapped all the content in Zero. Instead let us play before the chopper takes off, outside the mansion, maybe a local village where the overturned car came from, more of the cave area we didn't see in the first, a new part of the mansion from the original etc. Loads of cool places to situate the game. And I think both of those characters could die fairly early in the game, leaving you with Rebecca and maybe Richard, or Enrico.

Over-used is a given when the game is centered around him but I'd say he's more intimidating, no matter how many times you take him down he gets up and he keeps mutating now and again. Also you witness him killing Brad with a tenticle to the face!
He was probably easier to take down due to having more firepower in RE3, specially if you have freeze rounds.

                    Test out the new tags...

Also it say Xbox Live Games on Demand, no XBL Arcade logo. Wonder if this is how they are getting over the 2gb restriction, means they will be 1000g'ers if they are individually on GoD.

I tried revisiting Resi2 yesterday and went for a speed run off the bat after eight years since even touching the game (and 13 years since my last speed run rinse-through). I got up to the lab section and got killed trying to avoid those plant things, I'd also not saved up until that point.

Can't believe I'd remembered the process though.

3D Revelations looks great. Mercenaries 3D looks fun, if a strange idea for a separate game. Racoon City seems like it might be another weird Outbreak style game, whether it will be good remains to be seen. The HD vers of CV and Resi 4 look nice enough to me and to play CV again would be fun.
