Who cares if anyone has played it or not. It still looks like a flash game.

Yeah, I suppose you are right. There is no chance of it being fun then.

Of course there is every chance. But it still looks like a pretty weird was to spin off of a series.

Does it look fun? Not to me. It looks like you crash then spend 2 minutes making your car explode to take out more vehicles. By jumping up and down.

So right now, this is not looking like fun. It may be the best thing ever, but we're entitled to say It's Not Looking Very Good at this stage. It's called An Opinion. After all, they've released the footage to show people what the game is about and get people interested, so it having the opposite effect is perfectly valid.

I can see the reason that Boris was looking to defend the game. After all, people do tend to overrated when they do something different and then moan when we get more of the same.

This however, is just weird. It is a strange 2D crash mode mixed with a cheap looking flash game. It doesn't really look fun, far to random to be puzzle based and far to basic to have any real impact.

I'm not really understanding why there's such an uproar, disappointment that it's not what they were expecting - fair enough but otherwise it looks like it might well be a perfectly fun XBLA/PSN/iOS game to play, that just happens to use the Burnout licence. That said, if they announce it's the actual follow-up to Burnout Paradise & that it's getting a full price retail release, I'd find that pretty shocking & outrageous!

Depends on the price though. If it iOS it would likely cost pennies. XBLA could be quite a bit more.

What you've just described is the crash mode from the burnout games (except the jumping up and down, which would add weight to your argument if it wasn't entirely optional)

I actually think it looks pretty fun and will play much more like the crash mode from the full 3D games of the past. I can't say I'm keen on the graphical style (looks like ugly burnout 1/2) or the announcers, but I think it DOES look fun.

Whatever happened with this would of had people up in arms, because everyone is a bunch of whinging bitches. The other thing that could of happened would be that it was actually just the crash mode from Burnout 3 made a bit high res, then everyone would of turned around and said they could of bought the full game for the same price.

People should probably get it out of their systems now, it'll undoubtedly be 1200 points and ?4.99 on IOS. Better get that remortgage taken out on the house!

I don't understand why they'd even want to do 'crash mode' as a game in it's own right in the first place though. It was always a bit of a throwaway mode in Takedown and Paradise. I only played it for the cheevos.

There was a nice competitive, score beating element that was very prevalent in Burnout 2, I spent hours comparing and beating scores with my friend on the Ps2 version of that.

The much delayed Xbox version had live leaderboards too.

Always trying to beat friends scores was the best thing, in the later games they took away the part of the luck aspect of the game by letting your control your vehicle and influence where your car exploded.

Some strange design decisions, on top of the crap graphics, make it look shoddy to me. The length of time you have to cause mayhem looks, well, too long. It'll kind of drag on. And on. And on. The very short run up you've got start the crash off, on the other hand, looks too small and not leaving much room for creativity.

And it's perfectly fair to say the Jump Up And Down Kinect stuff looks like crap.

Maybe it's actually an exercise game.

Sort of like a pinball game in a way, and has the pinball sound effects going on. It might be fun to play.

Wondered why 2008 racing game Burnout Paradise didn't have the series' popular Crash mode?

This was my first thought, it just all seems a bit plodding and slow.

Did you all see the new Driver game during E3? It kind of looks promising and the next best thing after Burnout.
The idea of switching cars during driving to create action set pieces is definitely something different.
