    Bangai-O HD out next month

Did a search, saw no other topics for "Bangai-O HD"

What are people's thoughts on this?

I loved the DC version but utterly hated, hated, hated the Nintendo DS release.

I went back and replayed the DC game recently, and realised that:
    * 90% of my reason for liking it was the wacky, bat**** insane story, not the gameplay.

    * Without clear goals and a rigid stage-by-stage unlocking structure, the gameplay was a bit ****, hence why I hated the DS game.

This HD sequel looks to be the DS game in a higher res. Lots of stages and making your own, but no story mode.

The huge problem with the DS game was that everything was unlocked from the start meaning I never needed to play it. It was like my cartridge came with a 100% complete save file on it. All levels unlocked, my job done, back to the store for a trade in. I quit after a day's "playing" utterly disgusted with the product.

Ahh well, back to the DC version for me.

Ahh Bangiao. I actually feel almost the opposite to you, I liked the DC version but it never really clicked with me I just seemd to be able to breeze through the stages just by pressing the right trigger a lot (there were a few exceptions) and since it was in Japanese, the story didn't really exist.

I loved it on the DS simply due to the challenge, they seem to have actually thought about each level and the weapons you would need to get through it. Some levels were so frustrating but I always kept coming back tryign new combinations and ended up finishing the whole thing.

Having said that, I hope the Xboxlive version isn't literally the same levels as the DS one as there would be no point buying it unless its all new levels.

The zaniness of the DC version is one the main reasons I liked it, that and the old school feel due to the tiny main character. I would probably have liked it even more if rather than small boxed in puzzle like stages, it was a scrolling level based game instead. Still loved the DC game and some of the music was pretty good.

Excellent news. I loved both versions but I can't remember collecting fruit in the DS version. I hope fruit makes a return, it takes me back to Bubble Bobble/New Zeland story days.

No story mode again. That was my favourite part of the DC version, especially with the bat**** insane translation in the European version.
