Shikigami no Shiro 2 - what's the deal?

After following all the media i could find of this game for the past few months i was glad to see the impressive score from Famitsu. But with all great shooters, they all have a gimmick. Ikaruga had the black/white system, Psyvariar has the 'buzz', what's the deal with Shikigami no Shiro 2?

Tension system, more points how closer you attack. Every character has its own ability and weapon that you have to master. You could say it's a different game with every character.

All enemies you kill give off coins to collect. If you attack with you special weapon do you absorb coins (You don?t have to chase them). Collecting coins increase your rang and score.

      A very good shmup.

(I?m talking now about the first game)

If you want to know what it plays like, download Esprade on MAME, or whatever, and it's pretty much that.

Lovely boss battles IMO (from the first that is).

Esprade? Okay will go look at that (as I've been unable to try out the first game now that the second one is almost upon us)...
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

As I've just pointed out elsewhere, Mobile Light Force 2 on the PS2 is actually Shiki 1, and is in the "2 for ?12" section at Tesco, should you be able to play PAL titles. Surely ?12 is within your reach?

Mark, you cheap bastard! Don't you have enough swag at the moment?

And Mid, is it happy PAL (60Hz) or unhappy PAL (50Hz)?

Not sure, sorry. I'll give it a go tonight and find out, hopefully. One other piece of good news is an American mate bought a US copy for $9.99, so importers should be able to get it cheap too.

Not being negative but by my standards have XS Games raped the game (Gone is TATE wtf ). An option is to get the cheaper and intact Korean version albeit it has Korean text init.

Mobile Light Force has some of the most horrible artwork ever, if memory serves.

It does indeed. MLF2, despite being a vertical shooter entirely involving spaceships and stuff like that, has a cover consisting of three Charlie's Angels impersonators drawn by a 5-year-old firing pistols at 8ft robots. It makes about as much sense as the title; i.e. none whatsoever.

XS games should never be allowed to distribute in the US again. They took all that was good about the game and removed it. I pray nobody lets them near Shikigami no Shiro 2.
