    My first RPG

As I was looking through my now rather ridiculously large collection of PS RPGs I started to think about what game got me hooked on this genre.

So for me it was Soulblazer (aka Soulblader) on the SNES. The combination of a glowing Super Play review and finding a cheap copy in my local import shop made me try. Ah magic...okay it might have been a tad simplistic but I loved every minute of it. Oh and it was miles better the Illusion of Gaia and Terraenigma inho. (I traded my mint completed copy of Terrenigma for a tenner off Die Hard trilogy...why why oh why!!)

If I still had a SNEs and the cart I think I'd play it now...

Anyway the point of this thread: which game got you hooked on console RPgs and still gives you warm fluffy memories inside when you think of it?

    FFVII.

I know what you're going to say, so don't It's probably still my favourite game of all time, but it's position has been weakened as I've played Chrono Trigger and Cross later on, and of course most of the other FF games (just started 6 on SNES today ), Xenosaga and so on...

          Breath of Fire III

Nothing really stands out as being spectacular but everything from the characters, storyline and graphics to the music combined to make a stunning adventure.

              Secret of Mana

I saw screen shots of SOM nearly 2 years before it came out ........ and thought they looked excellent. It surpassed my huge expectations by miles \o/ and still remains my fave rpg of all time.

Everything about it is perfect - 3 player gaming bliss.

(I loved FF2, but it's Mana that got me into RPGs.)

Golvellius on the master system. I had such fond memories of this game- beautiful graphics, great soundtrack.... Progressing through the game happened in a zelda/ metroid esque fashion. ie areas you can go to are limited, find new item in dungeon that allows access to new areas and repeat.

Well I bought a master system a few months back to replay this beauty

The first console RPG I ever played was Sword of Vermillion on the Megadrive, and later on Phantasy Star 2. The one that most probably got me hooked was ff7, same as most people really.

I've played many many more since tho, Xenogears and Skies of Arcadia sitting at the top of my favourites list.

As with many others, FF7 and 8 have to rank up there as my favourite. I spent crazy amounts of time on these games...

But at the moment, it looks like my favourite RPG of all time is quickly turning into Disgaea. It's deep, involving, and best of all it's funny! The characters are great and the dialogue is witty and unique. I love it :P.

                        Shining The Holy Ark.

I impulse bought it after the UK Saturn Magazine raved about it, and I'm glad I did. It kept me totally absorbed for about a month, and I think it's governed a lot of my preferences about RPGs- for instance, I like to start of with tiny stats for everything and build up from there.

On a complete whim, I once picked up FF7 (on PC) at a local computer fair and (along with Ocarina of Time) it got me back into the gaming scene in which I had lost complete interest a few years before.

Then my friend sold me his PlayStation and I went and bought Grandia (again an impulse buy) and got completely hooked for a while on RPGs. I've built up a nice collection (especially on PS), but sadly lack of free time has meant most of them remain unplayed (except to check they were working).

My first ever RPG was Terrinigma on the SNES.

I used to just have a Mega Drive with all the sonic games released on the system but for a birthday my nan got me a SNES with mario all stars and Terrinigma.

It was such a strange depature of game genre for me I fell for it and I stilll have the game to this day!
