    Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

This comes out early next week and I was just wondering if anyone has preordered the varying packages on offer from the Japanese limted edition to the USA version. The look of this title has grown on me however I must admit to holding several reservations about the decison to go into the third dimension. I just hope the essence of Castlevania hasn't been lost and if it ends up playing just like a Devil May Cry clone then I'll be dissapointed. I've only seen one review for it so far from the EGM thread an am waiting to see what kind of reception it recieves.

I really wanted a FPA like Prime for a 128 bit Castlevania.

I was going to wait for the PAL version, but seeing as that wont even be this year by the looks of it i ended up ordering the US version on Tronix whilst i was there pre-ordering Mario Kart. I've not really seen any videos of it or read much about it so this will be a rare 'blind' buy for me

Really looking forward to this...just hoping there aren't too many camera issues. DMC crossed with castlevania sounds great to me...

Probably going to go the US version and PAL is as ever a lifetime away

Not sure about a FPS Castlevania tho'....would lose something methinks

Is it definitely coming out next week? I've heard conflicting reports over its release date so don't know what to believe.

Either way rest assured that i'll be getting the Japanese version as soon as its released...can't wait i love Castlevania games.

Wouldn't it be nice if by flicking the analogue stick, you could control the whip (and not just in direction, by flicking it back and forth you could have little "ripples or waves" run along the whip. Time the waves correctly to do double damage).

Or maybe make a proper whip peripheral.

But Castlevania in 3D? The N64 version(s) didn't convince me. That said, the 2D incarnations on the NES never convinced me either.

I didn't think this was released until 27th November?

EDIT: Crap. Didn't realise US version was out Wednesday.

*Dashes off to Tronix to place order.

I was hoping for that too, in a way. Since SOTN took a leaf (or an entire chapter) out of Metroid's book I thought it'd probably work pretty well.

If not that, then a 2.5d one a la Contra: SS.
