    Zelda Wind Waker 1080p

Came across this last week while doing some research for cel shading, was hoping to see some mock ups of Wind Waker in HD or something, never expected to find the full game actually running at 1080p. It looks utterly gorgeous!

Anyone played it like this yet or have the ability to?

    what? when? how? want!

Ah man, Wind Waker still remains one of the most beautiful games imo - still looks stunning. The animations are so fluid, so natural, so smooth. This is one game I would love to see re-mastered for the Wii U

I've said it a few times before - Ocarina of Time is the better, more complete game but I would rather play Wind Waker.

Have always found the emulator interesting, but never bothered to use it as it's a pain in the arse to get games into a usable format (Wii/GC discs are a proprietary format, so you either require a softmodded Wii and various tools to transfer the disc to your PC, or use an app called rawdump which takes hours and only works with a few DVD drives). Too much hassle for my liking.

Wind Waker is loved by many, but yet so misjudged and misunderstood by others. Ironically with all the cel-shaded hate, it turned out to be the most beautiful Zelda to date.

It also have some of the best combat in the series, imo, and most interesting characters. Sadly i can appreciate how the long-winded search sections turned people off, but personallly, i loved them. Its up there as my fav zelda most certainly.

I'm really not a fan of the game itself but I love the visuals and that looks gorgeous. Works really well with higher res, given the simple shading. Don't think I'd bring myself to play it again but it's sure nice to look at.

I think i have that installed. The disc iso...let's not discuss that, although I do have all 3 regions on disc. Not actually played it on there as I doubt my current setup would work well.

Also, last time I looked into it, WW would only go as far as the opening credits without crashing I thought.

I've been playing it on Dolphin in a high spec setting and it does look silky. So much better than the old but still great GC could do. Problem with Dolphin is setting it up for a different game requires that you tweak each one differently to get them to run well.

The laugh is, the only weak bit I ever had with the game was the search sections but they bother me much less these days given the rubbish some games since this have the player doing

I didn't even make it as far as the hunt bits everyone spoke about. I found sailing across that ocean criminally dull and there just didn't seem to be enough land to explore for me. That's just me though. Similar issue with Spirit Tracks. Take the adventuring out of Zelda and I've really got to have a good reason to care (something neither game gave me). But that's just me - the running around an overworld exploring is one of my favourite parts of Zelda, probably less important for others.

Shame he chose a nighttime section for this video rather than something brighter and more colourful.

I still think Nintendo should've come up with a new IP for WW's graphics. It doesn't suit Zelda, in my opinion. But a remake on Wii U would be great. They could remove the Triforce quest, put the cut dungeons back in, maybe sort out boat combat and fix some other flaws and make it more like the game it deserves to be.

But I guess it's unlikely Nintendo would heavily edit one of their games because it would be like admitting the game was flawed and unfinished when it was released. Shame, really.

Yeah, I've always wanted to see something else in this style again and seeing these videos now has made me want that so much more.

It's pretty unlikely this style will return for the Wii U.

I think that we'll see it on the 3DS though (unless they port Majora's Mask)

I think it does. If Ocarina of Time hadn't existed (or it hadn't existed in the form it actually took), then Wind Waker fits into the 'look' of all the preceding games in the Zelda series. Objectively, it's Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess that are the odd games out of the series, having more western-influenced fantasy visuals.

I prefer the look of WW to "dark serious Zelda look". It's a fun game.
