How many of you have played this fantastic RPG

It is a action adventure role playing game called "The Adventures of Alundra"

This has to be one of the best and criminaly overlooked Playstation game released back in 1997.
While I was in blockbuster back in 1999 I noticed this game and decided to give it a go. I get home, pop it in and It was Zelda: A link to the past all over again but 10x better for me.
The sheer size of the game was overwhelming. I could not finish it within two days and I was constantly playing it. I think I manged to get half way which was about 20-30 hours befor it went back. So I just went and bought it new the same day . When I finished the game and collected everything I think I clocked about 60-70 hours.
The soundtrack was incredible, actually, it was amazing. None of the tracks felt out of place and some were very touching, especially the dreams. Definatly up there with Castlevania SOTN, FFVII and Vagrant Story. Really great stuff and very high quality.
The story was excellent and very emotional (I nearly cried a couple of times )
The gameplay was superb, just like Zelda but better. Your weapons, armor, magic would be upgraded and lots of special items to obtain to overcome certain obstacles and insanely hard but fun puzzles. Some of the puzzles would have you going insane for hours and hours until you crack them but it is very rewarding when you figure them out. Definalty on par or just a slightly bit tougher than Soul Reaver's puzzles.
The graphics are imo excellent. I have always prefered this look to all the others. Imo all adventure RPGs should be played like this
The boss fights were great and impressive. Each boss required thought and were very fun to fight.

Its a real shame this game did not get the attention it deserved. It was a even bigger shame Alundra 2 (god knows why they called it A2 when Alundra was not even in it ?!?!?!?) completly soiled the name Alundra which it did not deserve as its title.
Alundra is imo one of the best games to ever be released on the Playstation.

If you have never played this befor but like Adventure/RPG then I strongly recomend you get your selves over to ebay and pick this up for under a tenner. Its deffinatly worth it and a steal at that price.

Anybody else enjoyed the special little gem just like I have ?

I have, I sold my first copy ages ago but have recently bought it back for like ?4 (gr0ver?) or something. Really good game, it's got everything I liked about Zelda +more. If only they did a proper Alundra sequal on PS2!

I have. I think I gave up because the puzzles were too hard and because after FFVII I was expecting another epic. I remember it being really well made though.

I thought it was okay, but nothing special. Definately not a patch on the Zelda games imo.

A lot of the puzzles I found very samey and the whole thing lacked the tightness found in Zelda games. It was big, but it could have been half the length.

A poor man's Zelda, IMO. Some of the puzzles verged on the obtuse and the game could be very sluggish at times. I didn't like it one bit.

          Yeah, nice music, though.

I thought it was great. I liked the gimmick of going into people's dreams and the puzzles were mad but very fun and made you feel good about yourself when you managed to suss them out.

It was alright, my mum loved it though.

                  Entirely ordinary.

Darker than Zelda, but not quite up to the same standard. Still, it's worth a look if you like that sort of game.

I can remember some evil puzzles in there, and being very annoyed when I found out that getting the last golden falcon depended upon winning that roulette game multiple times - it took me forever just to win it once!

Rented this once, didn't finish it, and didn't have much luck trying to buy it. I either didn't have enough cash when I saw it, and didn't see it at all

Bought the sequel hoping for more of the same though...which was a mistake ><

It was alright, but really nothing that hadn't been bettered on the SNES.
