    Need for Speed Underground

...is probably one of the finer arcade racers of recent years. Almost better than Ridge racer V...almost.

It was the same on the version I played and it really needs sorting out, has it?

Looking forward to this one immensely. I remember playing Motorcity Online a few years back at E3 and thinking how much better it would be if EA dropped the hotrods and went with more modern supped up cars. Looks like my prayers have been answered.

It is also the least pure Need For Speed game in the series' history (excluding the re-badged V-Rally) and a hopelessly obvious 2 Fast 2 Furious bandwagon jumper.

Need for Speed was created to race $100,000 exotics on point-to-point courses hewn from public roads in a simulation environment.

Now it's become drifting $20,000 ned mobiles around penned-in circuits, to a crude techno thump and "special" effects, without a hint of its once-great physics.

And quit peddling wares from your little softco, Barder.

Need For Speed on the 3do was excellent and made driving with a digital pad fun, and the tracks, cars and handling was spot on. But hell they haven't been anywhere near that for a decade, infact never.

NFSU looks like a steaming pile of horse manure, but it does adhere to the golden rule of graphics, if you can't see it, it aint there, so run the game at night, that is genius.

Who is developing this Fast and the Furious game anyway?

Is it better than Burnout 2?

I only "peddle wares" if they are good. NFSU is a good arcade racer (I wish I could give the same compliment to EA's other games <sigh> ).

"Arcade Racer" seem to be synominous with mediocrity these days. BurnOut2 is a good "Arcade Racer" but isn't anything better than average.

Sega Rally IS THE "Arcade Racer", or is Daytona?

What is an "Arcade Racer", how did it get here, and why am I still typing?

                      Less simulation and more racing.

Burnout2 defines what I consider a modern arcade racer. Fast Brash and total fun but with enough new features and depth to make it the definitive arcade racer of the moment.

I hope NFSU is good but my hopes are slim.

If I was being pedantic, which I am, I'd say that Gran Turismo in driving model was a "Arcade Racer", just all the fluff around it makes it a simulation.
