Reviews seem to agree that it exhibits the faults of shonky camera and loose button-mashy combat. Score variations seem to be about how sympathetic reviewers are to the 'aesthetic'. Which has become the perennial Grasshopper 'metacritic' profile.

We'll see about the button-mashy combat comments.

People said the same thing about Bayonetta but that certainly isn't so - they're just rubbish.

Professional critics said that? I remember them all loving it. So it seems that Lollipop has less depth to the actual combat, though that in itself isn't necessary a negative thing.

It does think somewhere between Bayonetta and Dynasty Warriors, but it's too damn loveable to hate it. It's a lot of fun to play

Maybe not professional critics, but a lot of people who dislike it say it.

I think you're right evilthecatuk. I bet it's similar to No More Heroes, as I've said before.

Got my copy today. It's soooooooooooooooooooooooo kewt!!!

Not too button mashy. The timing is fairly smooth to keep things combo-ing along.

How similar is this to "Shadows of the Dammed"? I bought it but got a few hours in and became bored to tears. That and it was an Unreal Engine game.

I was a massive fan of Killer7, but since Grasshopper games have not been as-good.

Humour wise similar it is a Grasshopper game after all, gameplay wise not at all.
There is a little tearing as tends to be the case with UE3 games but the gameplay is very much a mix of Bayonetta/DMC and Dynasty Warriors with done NMH built in.

Its very fun but could be called a little samey very linear though wave after wave of zombies to kill but it's entertaining at least

You can tell it's a Grasshopper game. THe graphical style (thick, almost cel shading style black lines), the humour and the content.

I'm loving it. So much so I've only given Gravity Days about 45 minutes!!

So IGN seem to be poised to give this a 5.

giantbomb 30 mins quicklook made it look pretty boring, to much to hope for getting substance with style.
