    X-Men Destiny

This one's been a bit quiet since it was originally announced, and bar some fairly dodgy looking screens we've seen nothing. Which for a game that's out in September is ominous.

But Comic-Con brings us some actual video footage.

It looks to me like there's a decent game hiding in there behind the pretty dated visuals. I'm one of the few people that quite enjoyed Too Human, so I do have half an eye on this one.

I don't think Joystiq liked this much.

It's a careless, cynical, opportunistic mess that Silicon Knights and Activision should be ashamed to release. In fact, its concision almost comes back around to being a virtue, because at least you can quickly move onto something more pleasurable, like selling X-Men Destiny to a stupid friend you hate, or burying a beloved family pet.

There's some real gems of ideas and inspired moments throughout Silicon Knights games which makes it all the more amazing that the studio can stumble so often and still be operational. They badly need to restructure and refocus themselves.

That's what makes this one so disappointing. I can look past the dated visuals and clunky mechanics in search of that SK spark that I know will be there, but the reviews so far make out that it doesn't have even *that*.

I'd watch for it in the bargain buckets next year, but I doubt it'll sell in enough copies for it to end up widely discounted anyway.

It could have been fantastic, the X-men universe is so huge and so rich they could have done wonders with it. Sucks.

Will pick it up when its ?10.

Indeed - I love SK but the reviews have really put me off this. I'll buy it when it's dirt cheap. No PC version though? What's that about?!

SK used to be good (Blood Omen, Eternal Darkness) but have failed to impress this gen.

Ohhh! Google Silicon knights. Top hit:

Excuse me? Developers of the Metal Gear Solid series? Erm, a port of one game does not make you the developers of a series!

Eurogamer have gone with a 5 and a 'so bad it's good' review:

Unlike movies, it's rare that games are so bad they're good. The rubbish ones are usually so unplayable that they're not worth plodding through. X-Men Destiny i
