Good disc-based recommendations above that I mostly agree with. One or two Wii-exclusive downloads well worth a sniff as well, in particular the 'My Life As A...' 'King/Darklord' games. Final Fantasy CC spin-off city builder and tower defence games respectively. Very good. Avoid the extortionate DLC though. Other Wii-Ware downloadable curios: Tomena Sanner and Muscle March. Absolutely superb, both of them. Bonkers. Also, Swords and Soldiers, although more recently available on other platforms. Wonderful sidescrolling RTS.

So, I went to a different game store, and got a wii!
Got an amazing deal to be honest, preowned wii including a motion plus add on, xenoblade special edition with controller for ?84.99! Supposed to be an extra ?10 for the controller version but scanned through at ?84.99, the same price as the normal one!
Not only that, but had a nice surprise and found a copy of new super Mario bros wii in the disc tray! Bargain!
So far I've ordered;
Umbrella Chronicles for ?5.80
Darkside Chronicles from eBay for ?6.65
Trauma Centre Second Opinion for ?1.99
...now I think I'm going to go with Mario galaxy 1, trauma centre 2, ghost squad, and smash bros brawl!
Good thing about this console that I'm finding is that all the games are relatively cheap! Only thing in finding expensive is Twilight Princess
Thanks for the suggestions guys, keep em coming!

The Cube version of Twlight Princess is actualy better than the Wii version. It looks better, plus the controls are alot better too. Its even more expensive though, but it is worth it if you can find a copy.
You deffinitley need both Mario Galaxy games, they contain so many magical moments that they make owning a Wii worth it on their own.
I am also a really big fan of Super Paper Mario. Some people didnt seem to take too it for some reason but its one of my favorite Wii games.
There are a few other wii games that dont have "Mario" in the title that are good too, but they are not worth it untill you have played the ones that do really.Last edited by rmoxon; 20-08-2011, 23:17.

First thing you should do to a pal wii is get the homebrew channel on it as it will open it up to been able to play any region of game disk. All of the suggestions by everyone so far are great choices, there are a lot of decent wii games but theres the myth that theres sod all on wii & everyone just uses theirs for a dust collector. Nice to see some people proving that myth wrong.
If you like horror games then fatal frame 4 & calling are pretty great. If you like music games then any of the taiko no tatsujin games or either of we cheer 1 & 2 are awesome too.

I'm big time back into the Wii now. Haven't even finished Mario Galaxy 2 or Mario Kart yet (haven't done the mirror modes), and I have ordered Goldeneye + controller as it was ?16.
Think I'll finish the stack I have here then go for some of the ones listed in this thread that I haven't tried yet.

Was Dokapon Kingdom only released in Germany in the EU territory?

So then, in the past week since getting my wii I've gone a little overkill and bought...
Trauma centre second opinion
Trauma centre new blood
Super smash bros brawl
Super Mario galaxy
Metroid other m
Madworld
Resident evil umbrella chronicles
Resident evil darkside chronicles
That's alongside the xenoblade and new super Mario bros wii I already had...
All those games in total cost me only ?45 though!

De Blob was great at the time but it's sequel on 360/PS3 is much better. All those colours and zany characters in HD makes all the difference.
Resi Evil: Darkside is on my shelf atm borrowed from a friend and I really didn't get on with it, the camera bobs about way too much for me meaning a lined up shot ends up missing because the character decides to move his head
And an add to my list - Okami. Initially I wasn't into it as the Wii controls were a bit tricky to get to grips with but after some practice and learning how to do the brush strokes properly I am loving it, more so than when I played through it on PS2.
In fact I would say Okami is a must buy for the system.

I'm in a similar position. I only recently picked up a Wii, having more or less skipped the last generation altogether.
I spent a bit of time with No More Heroes the other night, and it's brilliant. I haven't tried anything else yet. Is Super Paper Mario worth the bother? It seems to have had a lukewarm reception, but then I loved the GC and N64 games.
Very tempted to revisit Okami and Resi 4 with the wii-mote... although I'd also like to get some time in on Xenoblade and Mario Galaxy. Choices, choices...
