Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

Disney Interactive is considering a sequel to ambitious Wii platformer Epic Mickey, judging by online marketing materia…

This seems to be moving forward as Disney has been gauging interest in a PS3, 360 and Wii sequel with various boxarts and queries and such being put forward to see if there's enough interest to follow through with a release.

Epic Mickey was almost a brilliant game but kinda had eyes bigger than its stomach and turned into a simply ok game. The Wii couldn't take the graphics the concept really needed, the game didn't quite get dark enough (it didn't need to go so far as the steampunk concept art but it could've gone further).

Needed a bit more time spent polishing the camera and putting more detail and little touches into the stages (the Junk mountain was a great example of how the game should've been throughout).

This surprises me, because all the indications were that Disney were pulling out of console dev altogether (witness the various studio closures).

By all accounts, despite not being amazingly well reviewed, Epic Mickey made a decent amount of money, shifting well over a million.

Which is pretty amazing for a 3rd party Wii game, especially at the time it was released.

I think one of the things with it, was that, although it didn't get amazingly high in the charts, it sold consistantly in every region.

It's kinda like how those storybook Sonic titles that didn't seem to set the world alight but managed to make a lot of money for Sega.

I do remember reading somewhere that they were disappointed with the figures though, I got the impression they were expecting far higher numbers. It comes down to how much it cost to dev, and I always thought that Epic Mickey was a pretty expensive title for them to do.

A million for third party sounds good, until you look at something like Zumba Fitness... (13 weeks at the top of the UK chart this year, finally dethroned by Deus Ex this week)

They spent ages on it I think and then there were the abandoned PS3 and 360 versions. Wouldn't be surprised if they're reusing left overs from the first game to keep costs down.

                    It's All An Illusion

The French ONM site has mentioned a reveal next week for the Nintendo 3DS title Epic Mickey 2: Power of Illusion. No mention on if it's separate from the console version or a port.

Recent poll from Disney for cover art choices, I'd go for the second one

                      It Takes Two Baby

Disney has officially revealed Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two across all three current consoles. This time around the game will feature full voice acting and will also contain musical numbers just like Disneys traditional film releases do. This time players control both Mickey and Oswald with full drop in-drop out coop included.

Loads of new artwork and confirmation that the 3DS game will be called Power of Illusion and be its own seperate game.
