Still got 20 odd of the old books floating around somewhere, including this one. Thinking about it now you could make a decent game or two out of some of these. Guess this is where my love for RPG's started all those years ago

Big Blue Bubble were doing the iOS ones and they haven't released one in quite some time. Not sure if they were doing all that well with them. Nice to see more coming to PSN, though I am yet to get Talisman of Death (still haven't gone through the new password malarky after PSN went down, yeah missed out on free games on both PSP and PS3).

Whoa, I had the Wizard of the Firetop Mountain book translated in Finnish as a kid (I think the translated name was The Treasure of the Wizard's Mountain), got it as a Christmas present. Played it many times alone in my room, good times. Never managed to finish it, as it was pretty hard if I remember correctly.

Might have to check this out.

It was very hard. I actually mapped the entire game out as a kid and knew every path by the time I was able to finish it. I ended up mapping out about ten of the books. Took me ages. I wasted my youth...

Hahah, I actually mapped it too, remember there was a real b*stard of a labyrinth to map.

There were a few of these books translated at the local library, but I only played The Wizard and City of Thieves (or something like that).

I remember discovering them in my school library. I was blown away. I never really used to play them properly though, I just went back (and back, and back) if I ever messed up.

In doing that I'd actually created the Chariot Tarot (undo) system from PSP Tactics Ogre, before the original game launched which didn't have that feature.

There's been a fair few games based on Fighting Fantasy (and other gamebooks like these) over the years.

Adventuresoft did a bunch of text adventure adapatations of some of the Fighting Fantasy novels (including Temple of Terror, which is one of my favourites).

There were a few action games based on the 'Way of the Tiger' gamebooks.

The first two 'Lone Wolf' books had weird action/adventure hybrids done as well, they came with the original book and as you played the game showed the page number at the bottom if you wanted to read the more detailed text description from it.

Then of course there was the PS1 version of Deathtrap Dungeon, which was pretty fun but has dated *really* badly (as a lot of early 3D stuff has done).

The first adaptions were on the Speccy and C64 back in the mid 80s. I remember playing The Citadel of Chaos and The Forest of Doom and being a bit crap at them because you couldn't cheat at the dice rolls
