The checkpoints are a pain, I've had it since yesterday and it caused me to have tourette's last night.

So there's no quick save function?

I remember on the first PC game that for me it actually added to the game as I found myself repeating sections until I did it as efficiently or stylishly as possible.

Crysis 2 is doing my nut in because there is no quick save option. It encourages stealth and doing sections without being seen but if you are, there's not even a "load last checkpoint" option, let alone allowing you to replay sections or try out the various routes through a level.

Crysis 2 was a better game for it in my opinion ... games are way too easy these days as it is, yes sometimes games can be frustrating, but on the other hand I wouldnt have enjoyed Crysis 2 on the hardest difficulty if there had been a checkpoint every two yards. That's the whole point it makes you refine your game plan to the point where you get past a particular section. You are then satisfied that you have achieved something, not lets blast through the game as quickly as possible (and then it trade in).

Dark Souls suffered from checkpointing problems too, imho ...

Max Payne 3 sells 440k in debut month, called 'a flop'

Although Max Payne 3 managed to secure the number two spot in last month's NPD numbers, actual sales figures suggest Rockstar's latest has seriously underperformed. According to NPD stats, Max Payne 3 managed to sell 440K units.

While that number may seem impressive to some, it is a far cry from the first-month sales of Rockstar's big 2011 game, LA Noire. That game sold nearly 900K units, but even that game fell short of industry expectations. With Max Payne selling even fewer copies, it's unsurprising that Wedbush Securities analyst Michael Pachter would call the game "a flop."

Although Max Payne 3 managed to secure the number two spot in last month's NPD numbers, actual sales figures suggest Rockstar's latest has seriously underperformed, with millions of unsold copies sitting on store shelves.

Dammit, I loved MP3 and the amount of skill and effort that the devs put into it is all over the screen.

I guess it depends on what Rockstar will be happy with, the catch for them to a small extent is that thanks to RDR and GTA the industry etc expects everything they do to sell millions upon millions. Has Rockstar mentioned what its lifetime sales target is for Max Payne 3? Max Payne 2 underperformed at retail so surely Rockstar wouldn't have set it's sales bar too high.

500k of unit sales won't of even paid for the obscene amount of marketing that they had.
It will be miles off breaking even at such a low number.

I could be wrong but people are moving on and Rockstar is no longer seen as the be all and end all nowadays just a mid range dev. Unfortunately the land of wow sales is now dominated by every non gamers favourite genre the

Add a 2,3 or whatever to that title and you sir have a million seller blockbuster... Usually

On that basis I'm guessing its possible this will be the last Max Payne game for at least a long time, if not ever. A shame, though there were aspects of MP3 I wasn't keen on it's a polished title and showed plenty due care from Rockstar.

I just tried this on rental, agreed about the checkpoints it takes too long to get to them and there seems to be a steady stream of dudes with mega health between you and this goal. The actual game looks and plays okay but I got quickly bored with the slow time mechanic and the Euphoria stuff looks horrible in slow motion. Like you arms are totally breaking

I realise I am "late the the party" but not sure I missed much. I really enjoyed Read Dead redemption but not been too keen on the Rockstar efforts this gen.
