I'm going to be keeping my expectations in check with DS3 I think, even without co-op in the game I really enjoyed 2 but not as much as DS1, the sense of horror was lessened by a slightly stronger leaning towards action and heavily repetitive environment reuse. I hope this isn't a rushed sequel as broadly speaking the Dead Space franchise is put together quite well and they have the opportunity to dig in a bit at Resi's heels as long as they don't get tempted to copy that series current direction.

"we tried to open up the accessibility of the IP a little bit by adding a little bit more action, but not undermining the horror."
"we're thinking about how we make this a more broadly appealing franchise"
Please can someone tell me what proportion of people actually play games through in co-op seriously? Due to time constrainst, I've never managed anything more than a couple of levels of Gears and have spent loads more time on Horde mode because it's drop in out.

Well it isn't a load of balls, is it?
Basically you wanna play single player dead space 3 here's all you have to do.
When you select new game you pick single player, yayyyyyyy.
Job done.
Also I bet there were people out there who would have LOVED to play dead space 3 co-op now they get a chance to.
I'll still enjoy single player, I like the Dead Space timeline/marker story.Last edited by Family Fry; 20-07-2012, 17:30.

Dead Space 2 already started the move away from horror and was weaker for it. Co-op, when incorporated into the main single player of a game such as this defuses tension as environments have to be developed to account for two independently moving characters which typically results in more space and more enemies. Other than some of its gameplay progressions, one of the original lauded aspects of Dead Space 1 was that it delivered a proper survival horror experience at a time when Resi had started abandoning it. I genuinely believe co-op in 95% of games doesn't sell more units, it's a niche interest and it's just something they're using to tick a box for an already rushed sequel after DS2's multiplayer flopped.
