Yeah. For example:

I bought my BlazBlue DLC using a JP account. Once it was downloaded it could use it using another account on the console. I can't redownload it using that account, but I can redownload on the JP account.

Yeah, it depends on the game. Rock Band content won't work if you download from a different region to your game, for example.

You could play US DLC with a US game on your PAL account
You can't play US DLC with a PAL game on your PAL account

If he's got the code already though, it can't do much damage to just try it for whatever it is, some games will be fine.

If he does what you suggest, he'll waste his code. The ONLY game that is not locked for DLC is Ridge Racer 7, this might have even changed following the 3D update.DLC is region specific, but can be used by an account from another region once it has been D/L'd using the correct region account.You can input any code into any region PSN, but if they do not match you will get an error, and that code will be forever wasted as you can only do it once.

What else is he gonna do with it? Without knowing what it actually is, it's hard to advise. If it's just a LittleBigPlanet avatar or something it's not gonna have any resale value so it wouldn't matter if he redeems it and it doesn't work.

Surely the very reason he started the thread is because he doesn't know what to do with it. It makes no difference what it is, as what we do know is that it is US DLC, and you're misinforming him by saying it will "probably" work "depending on the game". It doesn't depend on the game at all. He'll NEED a US PSN account to D/L it, and then it can be used by ANY account. Unless it is a PSN avatar, then it'll only work for his US account.

Yes, I said that already. But it needs to be compatible with the game he's got too, if it's DLC. The account he uses it on is completely irrelevant, which was the point that I have been trying to make.

You said it depends on the game. It doesn't depend on the game at all. The regions of game, DLC and account MUST match.
