No Vita stuff in the top ten this week? Hmm, a little surprising. Still, in a week when the new Warriors Orochi hits, what can you expect? (God I want that game, it'd better bloody get an EU release...)

I'm not really very surprised. The 'core' who intended to grab Vita games on release probably did. Games that only sell to the 'core' in Japan typically disappear from the top 10 after the first week (such as western games like Skyrim). Many of them may go on to become slow burners, though.

MS speak vaguely by saying they have 66 million 'users'. If that actually translates to raw sales to date we should find out soon whether it's enough to push the 360 back into 2nd place.

In the 5 week Xmas period PS3 sold 3.9m units, Vita launched in Hong Kong and Taiwan taking total sales over the 500,000 marker and PSP sold 1.6m units in the same window.

Interesting that everyone's saying Monster Hunter is responsible for the current 3DS boom, yet both recent Mario titles have outsold it so far!

For the UK a steady downwards trend in sales emerged in which MW3, FIFA 12 etc all sold less than the previous years installments as the industry saw a downturn despite strong hardware sales. The figures also highlight the gulf between Call of Duty and Battlefields popularity:
