    Sega teams...

Putting the new name and all this reshuffling complication aside for a moment, who do you think is Sega's strongest team at the moment?

While AM2 is my favourite of all time (Mainly thanks to the Shenmue series, which I feel is Sega's best work) I'd have to say that since going third party, Amusement Vision has really excelled itself when it comes to quality software. While other teams are happy to focus on Dreamcast ports, AV really does the Sega name proud.

What impresses me though, is how they've came out of the shadows and made a name for themselves, even gaining the recognition of Miyamoto himself. In the new Edge, Nagoshi was saying how he misses the Dreamcast, but looking back, they developed sod all for it compared to everyone else. They didn't even do the Dreamcast conversion, handing over the rights to Denki instead. Very odd... I guess they were just more focused on the arcade back then. Home ports of Planet Harriers and SpikeOut can't come soon enough.

    So who's your favourite?

Great Topic! My favourite would have to be Amusement Vision. Monkey Ball 1 and F-Zero demo have convinced me of this.

      Plus I hated Shenmue II.

Look, you can flame me, but I used to work every day from 7 to 6, shifting boxes in a warehouse for Argos. Had to get up at 5 every day to get to work on time. All that hard work, just to have some fun.

The last thing I wanted to do when I got home was to have to play a game where I had to do the same thing, before I could move onto the fun stuff.

So, I think I have a justifiable reason for hating the game.

It reminds me of my old job. Which I hated. Because all the employees would have been quite at home in the BNP.

Hitmaker, UGA, Amusement Vision, Sonic Team and AM2 for me. I can't really decide between them.

Not forgetting Wavemaster - who are they part of now?

Don't they just do music for the various teams? I think they did the Blinx soundtrack as well.

Yeah, but I don't remember them being mentioned in the reshuffle.

I never did understand how one of the main designers for Sonic Team also worked on Blinx.

But at least when you consider that, the ten minute time limits sort of make sense.

Sonic Team was originally a two-chief affair. Yuji Naka was in charge of gameplay design, and was the main force behind Sonic and NiGHTS's gameplay. The other bloke (whose name ecapes me) was the character and general designer, responsible for the graphical style of the team's output. It's the latter guy who's at Artoon, which he left Sega to found after completing work on Sonic Adventure.

He is called Naoto Ohshima. It appears that he has always been on the technical excellence side of things, as oppossed to excellence through design.

                    Think a Japanese Carmack, possibly.

                    And no, Tomonobu Itagaki isn't.

I shall wreak revenge on whoever said that. You boy, at the back, was it you? And take that gum out of your mouth.

                          AV for me.
Super monkey ball and F zero are the games, that in ten years time when i look back at the gamecube with misty eyed nostalgia, il remember with most fondness.

Monkey Ball and F-Zero GX will be fondly remembered for years to come.
