In the gaming world at the moment a lot of games seems to be scoring extremely high, in some cases up to 10. Personally I think a fair few titles have been overscored in recent times and it seems that AAA titles are not allowed to be given less than 8, or even 9. It feels that reviews are more redundant than ever.

I think a 10 should be saved for games that are truly special. Of course that is just matter of opinion so it is not possible to give a definite answer. I also think that high production values can sway people into forgiving shortcomings in certain titles also.

Actually, I'll discount FFX as it was the first title in the series to do away with the overworld map, a move I didn't care for. Plus it generated a very hit and miss direct sequel for some reason. I therefor give my new 10 to Curse of Monkey Island.

Resident Evil 4 - Unmatched and still the standard
Tetris - Maybe the DS version or the GBC, but I never get bored of it
Rock Band 3 - I love this type of game, and since it's the only one still getting supported it wins a 10 be default!
Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo - The daddy
Super Mario Kart (snes) - pure genius
Super Mario World - as above
Area 88/UN Squadron - quite possibly my favorite shoot 'em up ever
Civilization Revolution - Has drawn me in like no other strategy game, and despite only discovering it in January, I have ploughed days into it.

I will think of another 2 and edit (but only if I think they are genuine 10's!

The point being that I clearly stated it was subjective and you still haven't bothered to put anything forward from yourself. The idea was to get an idea of what games people rate the highest for fun and to see if any of the more recent titles appear.

If you don't think FFVIII is a ten, fair play to you. I happen to think it bettered FFVII in every possible way from the visuals and sound to having a more coherent plot.
