    Best 360 Motorstorm Alternative?

Been missing these kind of games for a while and I was wondering if the 360 even had any as from what I can see it is a bit of a gap in the market on the 360?

Is there anything remotely like it with a good online base?

Flatout Ultimate Carnage is about as close as I can think for games I've actually played

perhaps Baja: Edge of Control is closer to that kind of game though, although if you hang on that studio has got Jeremy McGraths Offroad due out soon for Digital Download on XBL and PSN.

I can't see anything available being as polished as Motorstorm though

You summed it up perfectly in that last line checked out those games and although half decent don't think they would keep my attention like Motostorm did : (

There's a couple of Baja games, as EvilBoris mentioned Edge of Control is the better one, it's got some fantasticly long races and the terrain is very varied, just trying to get up some of the hills can be a big test of skill. It supports 4 player split screen too which is awesome.

Tis a shame there is no Motorstorm-ish game on the 360 as it is a great little game. Remember being round my girlfriends house a couple years back and playing it on her Dads PS3, taking it in turns at races. Not many games about which interested us all that much to take turns.

Fuel ain't too bad, very big open world racer, only played a few hours of it though so need to play some more.
Pure was great fun too, a more ATV style though with massive jumps and bumps all over.

I've recently been playing Stuntman: Ignition and that reminded me of Motorstorm at times.

The core of the game is obviously very different, but the backlot races were all nitro-boosted blasts through lava-flooded streets and jumps over canyons into alternative routes.

There's nobody playing this anymore, but if you can get some mates on it, it's a blast!

Also, keep an eye out for the spiritual successor to Mashed, Wrecked, which is due out early 2012. It's not really like Motorstorm, but should be immense!

First thanks for all the replies! Baja does look okay the more I check it out but I love the look of pure even if it is just ATV based, they seem to get the mud physics like Motorstorm.

I will have to check out Hydro Thunder and FUEL later. Flatout seemed a bit flat and boring but does Baja or Pure have good online play and a good online populus as I would want to take this online?

Failing that what are the most played racing games these days, I was looking at split/second as that seemed quite good and a bit motorstorm apocolypse-esque? Also does Forza 4 have a good variety of modes or just track racing?

i'd stay well clear of baja - its rather dreadful. Pure, Split second and hyrothunder hurrican are excellent though. FUEL sits somewhere in the middle, but leans to the ropey side.

I also forgot about Wrecked but could not see any media for it?

What is the online like for Split Second and Pure?

Although Fuel looked promising the level design seems none existent : /
