A weird thing I've noticed about Limited Edition GBAs

I've seen several limited edition SPs now, ranging from my destroyed Boktai 'sniff', to the Torchic Sp and the new pink one that's recently been released in Japan.

Every single one I've ever seen has a bright line that runs half way between the bottom of the Nintendo logo and the bottom of the screen. Sometimes it's hardly noticeable, other times it's so bright, it detracts from the game you're playing.

Now I know this is obviousley due to the backlight (the line disappears depending on how much you tilt the machine), but I can't understand why I've never seen this on any standard GBAs?

I just turned on my Torchic Orange one, and I see what you mean. It's like a line of reflection, very low down on the screen. Just above the bottom. I never noticed it before...

I've already gone into this somewhere else on this forum... though to be fair, I had kept quiet about who it actually was. I guess he's just outed himself...

It's really weird, the importer who initially sold me the machine was happy to change it but could not get hold of any extra stock. Maybe they just use a more powerful strip light or something?

I have this problem with my standard blue PAL GBA SP. I took it back to Gamestation to show them and get a replacement; they were very rude about it and wouldn't swap the unit for another one ft:

The line is very apparent when there is a dark background
