    2012 Gaming Resolutions

Cheesy, I know, but don't we usually have one of these?

    For me:

    1. Play fewer games, but enjoy them more thoroughly.
    2. Spend a bit less. No more 'Day One' idiocies!
    3. Tackle the backlog.
    4. Be wary of smartfone shovelware. **** at 69p is still ****.

    1920x1080
    720x480
    400x240
    And whatever the PSP is.

    1. Cut the spending
    2. Backlog

basically think about my purchases more and spend less money

without the 3DS, my spend last year would be reasonably low. unfortunately there are still quite a few games i bought which hardly got touched, as i continued to play GT5 all year. so i also need to make sure i really want to play a game, and actually have the time before i buy.

Play what I buy & enjoy my hobby more.

Can't promise to spend less as it'll never happen.

Once Atelier Meruru is out, play the Arland Trilogy games back to back.
Get to level 70 in BBCSE.
Get a Famicom & Disk System.

Finish Dark Souls before begin Skyrim. Been saying this since Skyrim's release.

To play games for fun/on merit and not for achievements. Enjoy the games of other consoles, not just the 360.

Sine I broke up for my six weeks of holiday, my love of gaming has been absolutely reborn, i've played 6 games start to finish in the last week! What will definitely continue this year is:

1- Never to buy any retro games/consoles again. Truth is when I do that it ends up being about collecting rather than playing. It all just sits on the shelf looking pretty, but never gets touched. If I feel the need to play an old 16-Bit era game i'll now do it through emulation only.

2- To continue what I have been doing and buying a game, playing it to the end before starting another. (Unless it's utter crap, then it gets sold!)

3- When i'm done with games, sell them on. I don't want to end up with a mountain of games for any system in the house any more.

4- Never, ever, EVER buy another game from iTunes for the iPod touch. They get a half hour use at most then never again, waste of money.

                  That's about it really.

                    1. Avoid paying full launch day prices unless it's something I'm really counting the days for. My Skyrim buying experience was almost too much for the human heart to handle. ?43 > ?20 in 2 days. Sob.

                    2. Get properly into Dark Souls. Demon's was the best game I'd played in years, I need to feel the same way about this.

                    3. Not get carried away with Neo Geo stuff. A tidy little collection is all I need.

                    4. I need to be less impulsive to sell (good) stuff when I'm after something new. But then I don't like hoarding too much stuff. I'm sure there's a balance somewhere.

Take more time with certain games. For instance I love Battlefield 3, but because there has been so much else out there I want to play, I've probably had no more than 10 hours of online.
Further to that, I'll try and not buy multiple games at the same time, when I'm buying what I class as a AAA title so I can invest the time I want into that game. Obviously there will be exceptions if multiple AAA titles come out together, but I'll just make sure to take my time through the one game and then start the second.

Also, to stop hoarding games. If I absolutely love the game, or know I'll replay it I'll keep it. If I just enjoyed it I'll trade it in when I'm done. I took this stance earlier last year and ended up making back less than ?10 per game that I hadn't touched since my first run through of it. If I would have sold them after I finished them I was looking at ?25-?30.

                        Rent rather than buy.

Definitely going to buy the games I know I'll play but renting others is still a very good option. Rented Skyrim on release. Loved it and played it for 4 days, over 10 hours worth of gametime. Extended the rental for another week but didn't touch it. The mechanics bored to me and I had enough. Buying it, even for the sale price of ?22.50 they had not long ago still would have been a waste of money.

                          300/300 in Trials HD

                          Possibly too ambitious.

Going to try and buy less UK releases day one this year. Obviously I still will for stuff I really want, but prices come down so quickly on domestic releases these days that waiting a month or so can really pay off.

                              1. Stop downloading PC versions of console games and playing them for 5 minutes.
                              2. Stop buying used games.
                              3. Wait until games are cheaper before buying them, unless they're games I'll get a lot out of or won't go down in price much evar (imports).
                              4. Put more effort into learning characters in fighting games.
                              5. Try to smash into the 9/10* zone in beatmania IIDX.
