Late to the party as usual...Advance Wars

I don't do thinking. Never have. TIE Fighter I can stretch to. Something like Red Alert, you can forget it. ZOE, Oni, I crave fast paced reaction gaming. So when people raved about a turn based war game for the GBA, I ignored them.

It kept coming. Even Edge liked it. So, last week, I bought a sleek black GBA SP, and this game.

Christ, it's fantastic. I haven't played a game this much for months. Compulsive, addictive, and for a tactical dunce like me, a real challenge. I can spend hours on it at a time, or just play a turn or two.

The presentation is spotless. The units all have their own charm, most armies look different, the characters are interesting and even the PAL box art is fabulous. Wish I had gotten into this eariler...

I used to play a level of Advance Wars everyday in the toilet at work, most of the time nobody noticed I could be away for periods of up to half an hour at a time.

Nasty ring marks though.

And why was it the original Advance Wars is more expensive than the sequel brand new. Madness. Still, money well spent.

i have advance wars 1 but it was a bit of a shady copy and it kept wiping my data. Advance wars 2 is now permanently stuck in my GBA and what a game which does everyone prefer ? I love the black hole army and there seems to be more tactical depth to choosing your CO in AW2. Some of the COs are hilarious

I only got Advance Wars a few months ago, I was put off by the idea of strategy on the GBA.. but it's one hell of an addictive game.
Hours disappear in what seems like a few minutes, it's like "just one more mission and I'll hit the bed", next thing it's five in the morning, my arms are numb and my eyes are red.

I finished the main campaign and have done most of the bonus missions which are getting DEAD HARD!

Trying to not buy AW2 just yet cos I'd end up doing absolutely nothing for the next month. Why would you play it on the toilet tho?

I've probably lost over 100 hours to Advance Wars since I imported the US version. Fantastic game, though for some reason I haven't played the sequel nearly as much.
