If it's any consolation, the RE review read very positively until the last column, going on about the early-RE-feel to some sections, and RE4 pace to others. I spent the first two thirds of the page thinking that it sounded great, before they laid the smackdown on the episodic/multi-character structure. I'd also venture to suggest that those who enjoy the bite sized structure wouldn't mind the other 'flaws' so much, as playing as different characters (with their different play styles and plots) may make the same old enemies feel that little bit fresher. Maybe.

The demo on the JP 3DS store is a completely different demo, much more sizable and gameplay-wise probably nigh-on the same as the final game.

I read the complaints about it being too 'episodic' recently and, as I said on GAF, isn't that what a lot of people bring up when talking about console-like games on portables? That they should be less like what you'd play at home and paced to suit being out and about? Not that that particular reviewer has to think like that, just that I would imagine quite a few people would see it as a positive thing.

Anyway, roll on release day next week, I'm still excited!

Yup, I was referring to the J-Store demo. The episodic design annoys me no-end in Resi 5 but for a handheld I don't see the issue. Most people would only play for a chapter or two's length of time at a time anyway.

Yeah I agree, It's one of the reasons why even though I'm looking forward to getting a Vita I am also apprehensive about the console style games that are on it as handhelds are not as suited to long play sessions. I remember wipeout on the PSP, fantastic game but there was no save option in between races which meant that you had to complete five on the trot.

The fact that revelations is designed in bite sized chucks sounds good to me.
