That's a dumb, shortsighted ruling. If that actually becomes possible, the future of digital purchases is doomed. The much higher ease of transferring digital content as opposed to a physical copy would be the death of services like Steam. People will simply buy e everything used - at a much lower price, or simply borrow amongst each other. Not to mention digital copies won't get lost or worn out, so a single sold copy could potentially be enough for everybody.

How bizarre. Wouldn't someone set up a buy/sell website that let you get every piece of digital media for 1p, essentially a free sharing site like er... piratebay? If you aren't playing the game, it could immediately go on there and 8 hours later, you just get it back as long as demand isn't too high. I suppose supply and demand on release would ensure a certain level of initial full price purchase but...

As it is, I've slowly stopped buying digital because I can't trade it in. I don't buy PC games, because I can't trade them in. I'd rather pirate them. The only thing I put money towards is PS3/360 discs which I can later sell should I choose to.
Too many games these days are ****, and I need to be able to offload them if I don't like them. Unless they're free to download. Then I can just delete them.Last edited by Sketcz; 04-07-2012, 08:03.

Doh, didn't see this discussion
Thing is this isn't going to go away, even if it's overturned, there was never going to be a digital only market where second hand didn;'t exist in any form and everyone lived happily ever after. It's coming and there will be those who do well from it and those that don't. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

EA says it's expecting Digital to overtake physical media for games within 3 years, but ""We will never abandon physical media. As long as the consumer wants to buy something on a disc, we will be there to offer it," he said.
