To problem is that almost everyone in the world disagrees with me it seems. The importance of how good the screen grabs look wins. The difficulty of getting youtube and others to display 60fps video at a decent resolution probably also makes it difficult to demonstrate how good your games look. If people end up looking at 30fps video of your 60fps game then your game might look inferior to its competitors.
Who knows, maybe some enterprising console maker will start putting the TRUE resolution on the back of boxes. And throw in the framerate as well. Because if MS do **** up the GPU, Sony could do a lot worse than putting a big 1080p/60fps logo on the front of all their titles.

I cant help but think that along with the success(as a piece of hardware at least) of the wii, the failings of the 3ds at launch price, and the slow vita start.....may possibly be behind this cut cost approach from microsoft.
If the gpu stays at the rumoured spec, you have to think quite limited in terms of cpu/memory too. I mean no point in going overboard only to be bottlenecked in the gpu dept right?
I mean earlier i was thinking about when the original xbox360 spec was released, and i realise after looking up the details that the gpu at the time was a much better equivalent than the rumoured 6670. x800 series later upgraded to x1800 series. In mid 2005 x800 was still very much a top tier card.
If cost cutting strategy isnt behind things then i just dont get it otherwise, and it wouldnt be the first time they have tried to follow in the footsteps of nintendo.Last edited by PaTaito; 30-01-2012, 17:56.

It's ALL because of the success of the Wii. MS see a console that did (when it was a fad) sell ****loads more, make instant money, with cheap to make games. It may turn out to be a big **** You to the proper gamers who got them the success in the first place.
Or the GPU nonsense is way off and we're all be playing some uber powered console next Xmas.

I'd say the slickest games I've played this gen are Metroid Prime 3 and Daytona USA on XBLA. Those titles don't really carry an 'End-of-gen Slickness' signature for me considering they could be deemed last-gen, or several gens ago concerning Daytona.

The thing that I love so much with Dolphin is the save states. I'm sorry that my skills aren't good enough for Zelda/Mario bosses, but for me I'd rather start the milisecond before the boss fight/tricky section instead of the whole level.
HD visuals + Save States = Family friendly Mario Galaxy that I can stop exactly when I need too.
I also must say that Mario at 1440p is so stunning that it would be hard for a YouTube to do it justice. If you are luck and have a Wii compatible DVD player and fast CPU this is to quote EB: End of gen slickness!
