    So arcade games then...

It's fact that members of this board love arcades, and while not necessarily UK arcades, we still love 'em all the same. So then, hands up you saddo's , what arcade games have you actually finished. Like, you've played them so much that you've actually completed them. Whether it's ones like not-so-hard Time Crisis to uber-impossible ones like... (can't think of any example ).

Personally, I completed (well, so to speak) Initial D *finally* after having spend probably about ?70 on it over the past 5 or 6 months . Then I was annoyed to find there was a final secret race that is hard (not too hard, mind). What I really like though, is how much I've improved, and when people in the arcade actually stop to watch me play. Today i had about 5 or 6 people huddled round while I whupped Takumi's butt .

I've also finished Time Crisis 2, but that's not hard, you've just got to have a decent supply of money. Doesn't require much skill... but it's still fun .

The only arcade game I ever remember finishing is 'Aliens', I became quite good at it too. God, that was a while ago though.

      Umm...
      well...
      I finished DDR! A lot!

      haha

Oh, Soul Blade! I 1 credited that once. Same goes with Soul Calibur, and that was the only time I've ever played it in the arcade. It was actually kinda annoying, as SC was 50p a credit, and I just popped in a pound coin, thinking that I'll probably die near the end. But... my l337 DC skillz held up, and I completed it straight through... twice.

Never done any shooters, except for HotD2 on freeplay at ATEI.
Kinda completed that Sega Safari game.
      *shrugs*
Maybe there are more... but I was never a huge arcade gamer.

Last game I played in the arcades was Tekken 2 years back now. I met this Japenese guy there, and we got to talking about it. Anyway, we met up at the arcade every lunch time to play and discuss the game. He pretty much became my mentor and taught me loads on the game. Came to the point where people would surround us while we played, either against each other or on our own. He was fantastic at the game, a Tekken God, every character, every move, combo, he knew. He could whip your ass with anybody. Had a lot of respect for him. In fact that guys responsible for getting me into imports. Bless him.

Quite a few. You do relaise though Halfy that you haven't finished Initial D at all don't you. Once you beat the first secret racer (Takumi on Irohazaka) then you get challenged by Bunta on Akina Downhill.

But also, once he becomes available you will notice a star placed on the course select screen. This signifies that if you replay the races again they will be harder. Each time you clear the game you get another star added and the difficulty increases again. You've got a long way to go

Anyway, personally I've completed (off the top of my head)

All 3 Time Crisis games without losing a life.
            Virtua Cop (1 credit)
            Virtua Cop 2 (1 credit)
            The Simpsons
            Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Various incarnations of Street Fighter (Third Strike, Alpha 2 & 3, and Hyper Fighting)
            Mortal Kombat 2
            Soul Calibur 1 & 2
Rolling Thunder (took me years to get that one down)
            After Burner 2 (1 credit)

            Sure there will be others.

              Not too many

Ive finished Crime Busters and Acrobat Mission though, two games I played religiously whilst at college, as well as other beat em ups like Double Dragon, Knights Of The Round and Golden Axe. I used to adore this genre, however when I goto Arcades now I tend just to observe, as I beleive I can get better gaming experiences at home now (plus I feel its wasting money these days).

I could only think of one off the top of m head until I worked my way down the topic and remembered a couple more, I dont play many arcade games nowadays

                Robocop,
                Simpsons,
                Turtles

There may well be more but I really dont remember (Time Crisis may be one along with Street Fighter 2), Time Crisis is infact probably one of the newest machines (and it aint new) that I actually put effort in to play. I`m sure some of this was 10 years ago lol.

I have completed most shooters that I have played in the arcade (all 3 Time Crisis games, HOTD 1 and 2, Virtua Cop 3).
Also completed Mortal Kombat 1, Killer Instinct and Virtua Tennis 2.
I must have completed more at some point but cant remember all of them.

                      not many really.
time crisis....used to be able to do it very easily, but havent seen it in ages.
dodonpachi...cant do it with one credit, but two is sometimes enough.
loads of capcom stuff...street fighters and marvel vs games arent too tricky.
                      soul edge/caliburs and tekkens.
house of the dead 2...only when playing 2 player with a mate who was great at it.

****'s sake! It would be good if Initial D gave you a free go for every race you win... but that just sucks! I'll never win :'(

It don't suck. It's a reason to keep playing Initial D.

                          That is a good thing.

Plus there is Time Attack challenges and the Challenge Bunta mode. I could play this game forever (if I wasn't so dangerously low on funds).

I think the only thing was X-Men Vs Street Fighter. I can 1-credit that.
