    The Impressive Tech Demo thread

This movie represents hours and hours of research, desperation, excitement, happiness, pride, sadness and extreme dedication. Hope you like it. IMPORTANT: designed…

Give it a whirl on your PC if you fancy

Imagine Mass Effect 4 looking like that

This is the current version of Unreal engine having it's featured shown off.
Mark Rein has said that Unreal Engine 4 will make all that look like crap!

Also, Crytek showed off some more Cryengine 3 tech demos

That's impressive - the processing needed to make the models move though must be stupid high at that level of detail.

Do they have to be recent?

I was really impressed when I first saw the PS2 tech demo showcasing the new water effects:

        Still looks stunning.

        Also, anyone remember this:

Did any game on the PS2 get anywhere near that level of fidelity?

Metal gear 3 wasn't far off, that wasn't using every bit of power of just a face or small room though

              Speaking of which remember this:

Which has to be the biggest tease in video game history!

True. I think as far as eye candy goes Konami always set a high benchmark. Thinking back, I reckon Silent Hill 2 wasn't a million miles away from the early tech demos.
