Most of those games have either awful, single 30 second cutscene or no ending barely at all. Says more about the people being polled than games best endings.

Just saw this while web browsing on the bus home. I actually out loud at the stupidity of some of those.

All these polls are of the moment and it largely depends who was polled. No Zangief dancing = No deal.

Lots of Call of Duty for one reason: They're probably the only games many of the people polled have actually finished...

Apart from list being rubbish, it also just needs to be a list of 1 game: Deadly Premonition. And when I'm referring to the ending of this, I mean the last hour or so of wrap-up.

I do love Assassin's Creed 2's fantastic moment of f-bomb genius.

You get a really weird ending where the precursor recording that Ezio is watching stops talking to him and starts talking directly to Desmond. Screen fades to black, then waits JUST long enough before you hear Desmond say 'What the ****?'. Roll credits.

Yep I loved that ending to AC2. It's rather brilliant. Really like the ending to Red Dead Redemption as well.

Super Mario Galaxy's ending? Despite how much I like the game surely it's not the first coming to mind for a good ending sequence. In fact, any platform Mario game will be very low on my fav ends list (if I have one).

Metal Gear Solid 3. I cried like a girl. The most poignant, heart rending sequence in gaming.

Did Oblivion even have an ending as I don't remember one, Skyrim and Morrowind certainly didn't. Or are people just placing votes for their favourite game here?

Or has the meaning of the word "ending" in a video game sense changed over the years? Do we no longer consider nice little FMVs as game endings? Is an ending the point at which a game reaches the closest thing to a conclusion you can have?

There are some good endings in that list, but the majority are very recent and there?s some very odd inclusions.

It?s no surprise when you poll the public to get such responses, generally you get really skewed opinions and I would rather hear a critical outlet like Edge or Giantbomb do the same piece with an opinion over a poll. You may disagree, but it always throws up more interesting ideas.

The Famitsu Top 100 was a list of 100 Japanese games that were full of rubbish and this Guinness Best Endings are just a list of what was most recent and in the chart. But do you think that game endings have become better with more recent hardware as it allows a story to be completed or do you prefer the more simple and refined endings of yesteryear?

My Monday morning addled brain thinks Metal Gear Solid 3, Braid, Ico, Ridge Racer: Type 4, Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Fable 2 are my favourite endings to games I?ve played.

MGS3's ending is brilliance but New Mario Bros? Ha. For a Mario games standards SMG's was quite good, SMG2's was phoned in though so god knows why it places higher.

Bah! no Yakuza 2 or HoTD: Overkill, theres some decent ones on there still, I find Crysis 2 an odd choice though, thought that was even worse than the originals ending.
