    Little sales/trade-in advice?

    Hi guys,
I know loads of you do your thing on the trading forum and a bunch of you also trade stuff in at the game shops and so on so maybe you can advise me. I want to get a Vita. I really shouldn't but I just know I'll get one eventually so it may as well be soon. But the financial hit is too great. So I had a look at games stuff I can offload to at least soften the blow. The only question is... what do I do with it?

My initial feeling for ease is to just trade in what I can in Game or similar but I know much of it I'll get next to nothing for. The flip side is to sell it individually, I'm dealing with individual postage, payments and all that. Not doing this much, I really don't even know what I'd get for most of it but I imagine not much - guess I'm hoping it will add up. For those of you who trade in your stuff regularly, either on sales boards, ebay or just going into a shop and handing them over, what would you do? Any advice?

Edit: By the way, part of the difficulty here is that none of the shops seem to put their trade-in values up, or am I just not finding them?

The general stuff I'm looking at is below (just to give you an idea in case it influences the route - not a sales thread!)...

    Lemmings

    UMD Video

My local Gamestop have a trade-in deals for the PSVita. Supports PSP, DSi, DSiXL and 3DS. Gives you around 60 quid for the DSi if I don't remember awfully wrong. Which I think is decent value. On the posters in the stores there is no mention of a PSPGo though, so I'll have to walk in to a store and ask if they're actually willing to give me ANYTHING at all for it. :P

I think either Gamestation (price match) or HMV is gonna be your best bet.

Thanks Alex. 60 quid for the DSi is pretty good alright. Not sure if I have a Gamestation here but thanks for the HMV tip, speedlolita. I would have gone to the game shops first so good to have that pointer.

If you have an iPhone get the HMV replay app, so you can see what they offer before you go in. Then check against cex on their website, and get Hmv to price match where needed. They also beat by ?1 too.
I've just taken loads of stuff to Hmv and got a vita for nothing doing this...but they probably never want to see my face again after all the faffing about

Cex will take the iPod off you for cash - website will tell you how much/little.

Edit: forgot to mention that Hmv also give an extra ?2 per transaction if you show your replay app to them. It means lots of journeys to use that as they won't apply it to each game if you take loads in at once. And they will quickly grow to hate you!

Thanks Laruso, that HMV app sounds great but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available here in Ireland. That would have been a big help. Shame they don't all have a way of checking value like that.

One more question - I'm guessing most places locally won't take JP or US games, right?

Nope game/hmv/cex/gameststion won't take import stuff. At some point most of them did in the past but not anymore.

Figured as much. I was digging out more games to add to my list and realised even many of my normal DS games are from the US, black boxes and all so very easy to spot.

Grainger games will take your usa imports, some Cex stores will, game station take iPod touch system in as trade (about ?40-45 for a 16gb gen 1 I touch last time I asked) oh and GS or game no longer match hmv (not where I live anyway) I am going to GS later so can find out the trade in deals or prices for most of your gear of you like as he is a mate so will tell me without seeing them

Tbh it would probably be cheaper for you to grab a ferry over to the uk (or mail it to someone to do the trade for you over here)

GS - Is that Gamestation or Gamestop? Either way, it would be fantastic if I could even just get an idea - it's a lot to ask so if it's in any way a hassle please don't worry about it. I really appreciate the offer.

There was a US copy of BlazBlue CT at my local CeX recently for 360.

                            Made me laff.
