    It's GDC time

Next week is the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

In recent years the 'developers' part has been overshadowed by pubishers using it as an 'early E3' to showcase their new games. This year it seems to be moving away from that again, there is no keynote speech for example.

Not that this means we won't get new announcements and videos of course. The publishers are just going to run their own events *near* GDC instead.

    So, anyone going?

They have done this to push away the press away from GDC, as said it was becoming more or a press event rather than a developer event. EA are holding a Showcase on March 6th (Stream-EA GAME CHANGERS) to unviel some new stuff from Maxis and others.
(Last years GDC EA Showcase showed off Battlefield 3, Shadows of the Damned, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Alice: Madness Returns and Crysis 2)

I always try to look out for new PC/XBLA/Indie showings at GDC, Epic are showing off some NEW Unreal 4 engine demos, hopefully they will surface and blow our chops off.
Are there any interesting roundtables/keynotes to look out for at all?

Hmmm what's this? *cough* *cough* *cough*

EA own populous, so it won't be shown by Lionhead if it does exist

Best we can hope for is that EA turns Populous into a FPS with a weak story.
            Oh I went there.

Any more word on that Fable the Tank-Engine game?

Not that I need any more reasons not to buy Kinect of course.

The facebook link at the bottom of the page points to:
Fable. 847,461 likes. Welcome to the official Facebook account of Fable – a new beginning for the legendary franchise.

...but then maybe Lionhead simply don't have a facebook presence other than the Fable one..?

Maybe they aren't making it for you?

What? I'm just saying I enjoyed the "on-rails" Dragon Quest.

Maybe they aren't making it for you either

Maybe they should be making it for people like me, people who aren't totally against the idea of an "on the rails" type of game?

My mistake, just read like you found the idea of an on rails fable laughable.

I was merely making light of the general mass opinion of the game when it was announced and demo'd in a supposedly inaccurate form.

I'm still unsure about it, I'm keen to see what kind of experience innovative company like Lionhead can pro duce.

I was all for Kinect, but it hasn't really delivered the variety of gaming experiences I'd like, maybe The Journey can change that.
