    Recommend me a DS/3DS RPG/Tactics game

    Hi all,

I'm after a new RPG or tactics game for the DS or 3DS and need some help.

I am after a game that I can pick up and play for 10 minutes and so I am after something that is light on dialogue boxes. I thoroughly enjoyed Ghost Recon 3DS as it was light on story and simple enough for very short bursts. Anyone got any recommendations?

I wanted to like The World Ends With You but the interminable angst dialogue made me sell the game.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! There seem to be great tactics games but I have a hard time knowing if they fit my requirements. I'm tempted by Final Fantasy Tactics but I already played a load of the GBA version and would like to try something different. Anything on DSiWare?

    Cheers!

Have you tried Fire Emblem on DS?

Sadly, including the letters R, P and G in your requirements kind of goes against you not wanting to sit through a lot of text boxes.

Tales of the Abyss? Lacks "save anywhere" though, but Golden Sun: Dark Dawn lets you. Just getting into that myself.

The only 2 I have that I can recommend tactic wise are Advance Wars: Dark Conflict and Disgaea (both on DS).
Once you get how things work in Advance Wars you can pick-up-and-play in short bursts but there is that learning of all the units in the first place.
Disgaea is just HUGE. Save points are a pain if you want to delve deeper though

Normal RPGs...go with Chrono Trigger on DS as it has fairly frequent saves as far as I can remember.

Advance Wars 3DS really needs to exist!

Oddly I think the PSP probably has the best options in this genre, as it has Final Fantasy Tactics, Crisis Core and Valkyria Chronicles, which all lend themselves to short burst play.

The ds has final fantasy tactics as well though, granted its the inferior second game, but it's still a good game all the same and he said he's played the first one, so at least the second one is different.

Having said that, yeah, the psp has LOADS of great RPGs

Btw chopemon, do t you have the 3ds ambassador games? Fire emblem is great.

Yeah, but by 'first one' did he mean the PSX one or the GBA one?

Actually yeah, he did say the GBA one, but its still a different game to the DS one.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was going to try Fire Emblem as I am a Very Important Ambassador but the GBA games don't sleep when I shut the 3DS and I'd really like that feature.

I have played a few Advance Wars so I'm looking for something different. Golden Sun sounds good if it is save anywhere.

What about Luminous Arc 2? I saw thread on another forum where people were saying it's good.

I stopped in CEX on my way home and picked up Disgaea for 15 English Dollars but I'm not sure if it will fit the bill due to it's size.

Well how about Warhammer 40000: Squad Command? It is not great, but if you can find it for around a fiver it is worth it. Gameplay is similar to early x-com games.
