That's the Dublin ones gone too. Only passed one of them yesterday morning.

Gah, the Gamestation in Wood Green is closing. Bet its place is taken by another pound shop or something. I used to like browsing through there on my way to my mum's. Luckily there's still a GAME, an HMV and an indie in the Shopping City and CEX down the road.

Not really. The HMV in Brent Cross was one of the first to go when the company had its head firmly in the noose last year.

Checked Stockport last night an was surprised to see them both still open. A friend who used to manage the Game there many moons ago said it was one of the best performing stores so that may be why they both are still there. There was a bloke in there with his son getting frustrated that he could not redeem his gift card - has he been living on Mars for the last month????

Seems Warrington has spared either Game or Gamestation as only one store appears for the town.

Edit: Would also quite like to know why the GAME in Leigh has been spared. I cannot imagine it did too much business, being based in Lancashire's answer to Mos Eisley afterall!

Cheltenham gets to keep Game but loses Gamestation. Gamestation always looked like a bit of a jumble sale anyway and was at the same end of the high street as our indie.

On the local tv news yesterday It said that Game would be keeping four stores open in Northern Ireland. But this isn't the case, from what I see on the list only two have survived - Londonderry and one in Belfast (was 5 in and around belfast before).

My chavvy local one has survived but 2 of the Manc 3 go. Im assjmjng its the largest thats survived. That one really needs more shelving than the tat it currently houses

My nearest one is now 15+ miles away since Durham and (my favourite) Bishop Auckland closed yesterday. Doubt I'll ever go in one again now

Hopefully they axe the Arndale Centre's Gamestation. The phrase "not enough room to swing a cat" is probably no more relevant to a space than that!

Seriously? Do you even read your comments before posting them?

Amazingly, of all the Irish stores, the one my friend who I went to E3 with, has survived. Called him yesterday and he felt the same as me. Glad and guilty. Other friends weren't so lucky; Andover, Salisbury, Southampton, West Quay, Fleet, Winchester. All stores where I knew people and had worked at some point or another.

I probably should have expanded on that a little by saying that they should have axed that one as opposed to either of the the much larger GAME stores and it was dangerously undermanned whenever I was in there, so if the worst did happen then casualties would possibly be minimal. Honestly, there are tiny corner shops that are larger than that Gamestation is. If there was more than one person in there at a time, it was almost a struggle to leave!

Unfortunately Burnley's Gamestation has been killed off, lots of fun memories of that place including my stint working there as an Xmas temp in 2004. They've done fair well to uphold those premises for nine years, as prior to GS every firm had only lasted a year max.

                              Game is still there.

PwC needs "a bit more time"

That, to me, reads more than a bit "ooh err, we might not be able to get a deal done before the **** really hits the fan". Or am I just being a little alarmist.
