I would have sworn that the local Gamestation to me would have closed with the small GAME but no, they're keeping it and have shut both the big GAME and the small one.

I've heard that only the cheapest store to run has stayed open in each town, not the best performing!

Would certainly make sense in Manchester, with its Newspaper stall sized Gamestation!

Yeah the worst game shop I have ever been in. During summer it's intolerable in there when it gets busy and no air con. I remember trying out a psp in there and had to wipe off the beads of sweat I dropped on the screen before handing it back to the assistant

Game Stafford is still open, Gamestation closed. If you are in the Stoke area, Stafford is now the closest Game store with both the stores in Hanley closing. Sad time packing the store up yesterday :-(

So the list was wring then? It had the stafford game on it. The gamestation was crap anyway.

Yes, potentially, not sure of the exact address but I know people from Game Stafford and they are operating as normal.

I am kind of sad now. They closed both gamestation, which was awesomely big, it had two levels and the game store on princess street in Edinburgh. Only ones that are left are the crappy ones inside the shopping centres and retail parks. Hope HMV doesn't go bust soon...

HMV were saved from administration the same guys who tabled an offer for GAME, RBS said it wasnt good enough for them anyway

got the administrators in, shut have teh stores and then tables an offer themselves - dodgey buggers

the rbs thing seems properly corrupt, as i understand opcapita would have wiped all debts but was rejected, if that's all true i sincerely hope some sort of watchdog looks into this

Not really corrupt, is it. Their offer meant paying a lot less of the debt and writing a large chunk of it off. That would mean creditors like RBS would lose a lot of money. There was no way opcapita were going to pay every penny of the debt GAME group holds.

Also, as a major creditor there is nothing wrong with having first refusal on the company. It makes perfect sense really. Why go through procedures to write down the debt and lose a lot of money when they can run the company themselves? After a few years, if everything goes well, RBS will sell the company off.
