Dragon's Lair XBLA - Kinect enabled

For the first time in the series? release, you won?t have to rely on typical D-pad and button presses for controls. Digital Leisure has announced that the game will feature Kinect support. Now, they didn?t delve into how deep the controls would go when it came to performing Dirk?s actions, but we?re guessing that motion prompts will appear on the screen, and players have to complete them in order to avoid dying. It?ll be interesting to see how the system works.
I remember seeing Dragon's Lair in the arcades when it first came out and it was amazing, even when you realised it wasn't "graphics", but even today, Don Bluth's animation is lovely.

Since then, it's been released on every format under the sun, so do you think adding Kinect interactivity is enough to make people go back to it?

I wouldn't have thought so but people amaze me every day :-)

Go back to it? I thought the idea was to get NEW audiences to play and experience it?
Introducing Kinect play will help do that, it makes the game a different experience to 'play'.
Hell even if your from the old school who's played the game on every format under the sun, essentially this version will be a new game to play. You won't be able to Simon the entire game from memory.
Then again if your from the old school your probably some old fart that thinks Kinect is a waste of you old man bones energy.

I remember it from the arcades, the machine always used to stop working, I think it used laser disc? Horrible game, but the animation was amazing.

would rather just watch the entire "game" on you tube.....hate qtes and watching it on you tube is less frustrating

I wouldn't think so, in fact much of the original required pin-point precision on some of the timings, I can't see Kinect lag helping there.

There was a wow factor to the title originally, but underneath it all, there wasn't anything more to it than a string of QTEs.

If there was ever a game that relied purely on memory, then this would be it (oh and Badlands).

However I remember I always attracted a big crowd playing this in the arcade - it was actually pretty easy (Badlands was a lot harder IMHO even though you only had to press the shoot button). Dragons Lair 2 was harder & it took me and my mate (who helpfully worked in the arcade) a lot of time and (free) credits to beat it but again eventually once you've memorised the stages, it's fairly easy.

This game is a classic example of technology taking precident over gameplay, I used to have a lot more patience for motion video games (though there are some excellent examples), it's been on nearly every format ever so why not.
