    Rock Band Blitz (XBLA/SEN)

    Rock Band Blitz announcement

    - Coming to XBLA and PSN
    - Gameplay looks like Rock Band Unplugged on PSP
    - Compatible with all your existing Rock Band DLC
    - The 25 tracks from Blitz will import into RB3
    - I bloody want it
    - PUMPED UP KICKS

So yeah, it's basically Frequency/Amplitude with 3,500 songs. XBLA is killing retail this year.

Nice. Amplitude was my favourite PS2 game and this looks like a proper sequel. Only two buttons this time around by the looks of it. Presumably it is using the triggers or shoulder buttons.

I don't see how this can be bad. I'm looking forward to this already. I must take issue with "Brand new concept" though...

Rockband unplugged is brilliant, this has to be too really.

I have Rockband Unplugged, but it isn't near as good as Frequency and Amplitude. I can't explain why though.

Because it was developed by a third party. I got on with DS RB3 more.

Looks nice enough, especially as its just a download game, but personally I was hoping they'd have announced something different. Harmonix is now in ever decreasing circles with rhythm based games and need to find something new to survive long term. Hopefully their next proper project is something more original.

That will explain it. I hadn't really followed it. Just picked up a cheap copy at the tail end of last year and although it's ok, it never really clicked the same.

Only 2 buttons on each track...hmmm

That must be because the console triggers aren't suited for this, only the bumpers /L1+R1

It's because it's not the game people expected. It's not meant to be challenging, you're not meant to get 80% through a song and fail out of it because it's too hard. You're supposed to be able to play it, everyone's supposed to be able to play it, and so it's two-buttons.

That might seem too easy, but yeah, that's the point. You're going for high scores rather than completion, and using power ups and planning your strategy ahead is what you're concentrating on rather than what you're pressing, and even with only two buttons it's going to take some effort to get the best scores.

Probably best not to think of it as Freq/Amp or Unplugged, really, it's similar in style but the gameplay sounds very different.

TBH, this doesn't even look that easy, even with two buttons!

Is this out yet? MCV seem to think that it is but I couldn't find how to buy the actual game on XBLA anywhere last night.

Na it's not out yet, still scheduled for Summer 2012 release.
I'll take a guess at August.

I think that in terms of chart tracking then MCV are counting all Rock Band Network sales against this title.

                              Which I think is misleading.
