How do you expect games to look next gen?

Games looks so good right now I am really struggling to see how they will look better, any body got any cool screenshots or totally amazing uber games or tech demos?

    Expect 60fps.

Everything else is a bonus. Anything less is a joke.

Holodeck like in ST TNG - anything less is simply unacceptable.

      Make it so.

So if games just look like they do now but run 60FPS, that would be ok?

I'm only interested in Nintendo really so I expect "next gen" to be HD and about the level PS3/360 games were two years ago? :/

I don't think the leap will be as big as it was going from the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The move from SD to HD had a lot to do with that, but I do expect more 60fps games plus a bigger focus on better effects and physics. This will allow games to, of course, look more realistic than what we currently have on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Tech demos from the likes of Epic Games, Crytek and Square Enix have all show this to be the case I think. More and more developers will look at incorporating 3D into their games too probably.

I expect loads of true 1080p games running at 30fps, albeit looking very pretty.

You know the cut-scenes in CoDuty? I expect the in-game engine to look like that.

The new GPUs will allow to use colours insteads shades of brown and grey for "realistic" real-time renders.

And I agree with nakamura, 60fps all the way. Don't care about resolution or effects.

The question was what do you expect, not what you want! I can't see why 60fps would be much more prevalent than it is now. I'd say expect 1080p (or higher in some cases?), and more like cutscenes/current tech demos.

Actually, dial back on the often stupid use of bloom lighting. Also sort out the stupid way the camera often blurs when rotating to cover the frame rate.

Go play Ridge Racer 6 now to see how good 60fps makes a 2005 game look.

1080p @ 60fps otherwise what's the point? Better close up textures. No improvement to physics or ai or gameplay. That's what I expect we'll see.

I'm expecting 1080p/30fps. 60fps will remain a daydream for as long as developers can achieve better visuals at 30fps.

Games will just look like PC games do today, though Sony will also have a heady 3D emphasis.

But pc games run at 60fps today. That's one of the main draws for me. I'd drop resolution (if I had to) to get 60fps. I've probably said this before but I believe much of cod's success comes down to 60fps. No devs or publishers seem to agree though because all its peers are happy with 30fps it seems.

If the next consoles don't do 1080p 60fps as a standard then they aren't next gen because a ?500 pc can do that right now.

?500 next gen consoles confirmed or too much for a console?

I'm assuming they'll sell at a loss. Plus ?500 for you and me to build a pc = much less for Sony and ms to make the same thing. So, if it comes in at ?300 and can't do 1080/60 then I want to know why not!

Reality is there's probably more to it than that if course!
