    Games within Games?

The other day, I played Halo over a lan for the first time ever. Fairly fun it was, but we got bored after a couple of hours.

So we were playing around with the vehicles, and eventually came up with a far superior alternative to simple deathmatch.

    Map: Blood Gulch.
    Vehicles: All.

Place a tank (or 2) on a flat piece of ground. Put the other vehicles in a row behind them, except for a single Ghost.

The aim is, for one player to go as fast as they can at the tank(s) and try to ramp themselves up, over the row of other vehicles. If they do this, it's one point to them.

The other player equips a rocket launcher, and then tries to shoot down the ghost in mid-air. If they do this, it's one point to them, and they then swap over.

I did it near the blue base, with plenty of flat ground, and the rocket launcher equipped player had to stand on top of the base. Amused me and my mates for far longer than standard deathmatch

Are there any other games within games you've ever made up your own game within?

Oooooh, that's a good idea... I think I'll try that myself.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Two player, bombing runs with sticky grenades is the only one I've done in multi-player. You can only attack using Plasma grenades stuck to your body. This means two of you have to work together. It's hard as hell, but really rewarding... hee hee hee.

I've played Flip the Scorpion (Covenant Tank) with a Ghost (Covenant Jeep/Warthog). Two of you have to try to flip the Scopion with Ghosts... If you stay close to the scorpion, it wont shoot you... So you keep ramming him again and again together at different angles and speeds until it finally resonates soo much that he flips over... The only problem is, is that I think the tank may be unflippable, as after about 30 minutes of trying we didn't make it... Perhaps you should try it... see if you can... HE was soo clooooose to going a few times...

When we got bored of setting times on Track and Field on PS1 we reverted to trying to get the worst possible distances on some of the events like the javelin and the long jump. This had the excitement of seeing how small you could make a jump/throw without commiting a foul.

It certainly entertained me more than the main game.

Yeah, I've done, that before, it's so much trickier than it looks...

btw, in real life, I actually got 3 metres in an international Javelin competition before. I rock!

Heh, this one time I was playing LAN with my mate on Sidewinder, he was quite far away and I only had a rocket launcher. He was next to a warthog. I fired the rocket launcher, missed him, and hit the warthog instead. Something in the way I hit it made it fly up into the air, and then through sheer luck it landed on him and killed him! Rolf!

Blood Gulch, high grenade kick. Make sure you have unlimited grenades for this one.

Throw a plasma grenade on the ground in front of you. Then throw another plasma grenade in a higher trajectory about two or three seconds after the first one. Time it right and the first one will explode as the second passes directly above it (a foot or so). The first grenade will create a shockwave that will send the second into the stratosphere, before it comes down again.

Take it in turns to see how far you and your friend can get the second grenade. Make up the distance rules as you wish.

In a smaller arena such as Hang Em High, as above, but see if how many you can chain. I.e. use the second's explosion to set a third one off onto another trajectory. A bit like keepy-uppy. Y'know.

Excellent, I'll have a blast at all of them tomorrow night

              Yet another Halo one...

              4 players, Blood Gulch.

One player has a ghost, and 3 players are on foot.

3 players start in the base, and have to get to the other base. If they get ran over by the ghost, they then just on a ghost and get after the others.

Sound familiar? Yep, it's BRITISH BULLDOG!!! :P

Best one so far! Can any other challengers beat this?! Do you have the power to bring World Revolution?

Along time ago when i broke my PS1 during the summer holidays(about'97), and had no money to fix it. I was left with out a console until my mum friend lent me their NES with tons of **** games, so bad were some of this games that they lacked the basic element of fun(and multiplayer) so we had to resort to getting the most out of them, in the anyway we could.

                  And therefore we invented

CHIP&DALE Rescue Rangers Deathmatch. This terrible scar on platformers around the world had one interesting option, co-op mode but with the added ability to pick each up like the many boxes found in the game, so this resorted into picking each other up to either throw each other down holes or at enemies till all the continues had been used up and just one squirrel was left standing, a certain satisfaction can be had by finishing off you mates last life by picking him up and jumping down the hole with him so he can't recover in mid air

                    Move ya body

For this game you need 2 players, big open spaces like blood gulch or sidewinder is good, you also need plasma grenades, first agree a starting spot, then kill the player by whacking him ove the head with a gun (button Y), then by using plasma grenades see how far you can move him before he disappears.

                    Blind Tag

If you have 4 xboxs and 12 pads the other three. Blood gulch is best. All players should be invisible. Get a player and stick him on the base, he should have a snipper rifle. The other players should move to the other base and then have a 5 minute time limit to get to the other base and tag (by smacking over the head) the main player. Get a point for everytime you do so.

                    Halo Rally

Again choose blood gulch or sidewinder, need lots of open space. You also need a ref, so three players in total. Get the two warthogs and put them at an agreed starting place, normally the back entrance of the bases, now you must race from your base around the other base and back to your base in the quickest time. It's harder then it is, but can be quite fun. You could make it more challenging by forcing people to drive along the edge of walls around blood gulch...

This is such a great anarchistic idea. Who cares what the developers intended anyway? I've always just followed along it seems. *rubs his eyes* Boundaries in games are more obvious now all of a sudden.

Save the Princess is pretty cool as well.

                        3 player or more.

1 player or more (the more the better) starts at a designated point on flat ground and has to reach another point opposite on the map.

1 Player in Warthog has to try to run over as many people as possible. They start opposite, at the point where the other players have to reach.

1 Player stands on a high point with a sniper rifle and tries to kill the Warthog person.

Warthog person gains a point for everyone killed.

The game continues until the Warthog driver is killed, or 1 or more people reaches the goal (depending on enemy numbers). All players who respawn have to go to the starting point and try again. The first person to reach the goal becomes the sniper, and the sniper then becomes the driver.

It can be good, but only if you are with a crowd who are either REALLY good, or REALLY ****.

Give it a go, change the rules, see what works.

                        ---

Capture the Flag in the Warthog:

Similar to Halo Rally. You can only get the flag in a Warthog. With LOADS of players and limited cars, you're getting shot from all directions as people aim to commondeer your vessel to get the flag themselves. It gets quite tactical when there are teams involved.

                        ---

Frankly my favourite is 16 player Map. One on One. Snipers at dawn. 30 minute time limit.

That, my friend, is the test of Halo ownage.

                            Forgot this one...

                            Destruction Killing

You need either 2 players or more fun 4 players, you need a team battle in any location with warthogs. Agree a time limit too. Weapons should be standard weapons so standard handgun only. :P

Find the warthogs, in 2 people are playing each one gets into the warthogs. If 4 people are playing then the other player gets into the driver seat of the car.

Now the drivers must either crash (driver) or shot (passenger) their way to victory. Once the car is flipped you must get back into the warthog as soon as you can, agree a time limit to how long the other driver can stay outside the car. Once killed the game pauses until the driver finds his warthog and gets back in.

                            Points.

Flipping oponents warthog - 1 Point
Killing Driver afterwards by running him over - 1 Point
Killing driver by ramming flipped warthog into them - 2 Points (might need a ref for that one)
Shooting driver of warthog before he runs you over - 1 Point
Shooting driver of other warthog - 1 Point
Being outside the car for more then 30 seconds - 1 point to the other driver for each 30 seconds.

                            4 players

If passengers die then the game continues regardless, they must find and enter their warthog asap.

Passenger Shooting driver - 2 points
Passenger shooting other passenger - 1 Point
Running over passenger - 1 point
Own driver killing passenger - 1 point to other team.

                            Destruction Derby

As above but with 2 players, the idea is to flip the other warthog and not kill the other player, once flipped the driver must get into the warthig again.

                            Points

                            Flipping Warthog - 1 Point
Killing other player - Take away 2 points from your score.

                            First to 10.

I remember coming up with different games for Goldeneye way back when - crap friends used to spoil the fun though.

Dancing competitions on N64 'No Mercy' with some funky early 80's rap music playing were a good laugh though. The others waited outside the ring for the one to finish, if he was crap he got the **** kicked out of him. LOL!
