    Home - 2d horror

Home is a really cool looking 2d side on horror game (probably like Lone Survivor).

I am really jazzed to see survival horror making a resurgence in the indie scene since we don't get many on console.

    Only $2 preorder as well!

Just seen some screenshots. Nice to see that there are devs out there still making NES games! :-)

Seriously though, I'm getting a bit tired of these blocky looking indie games now. If Dogg Thang did the graphics for a game I'd make an exception though. I'm trying to think of a game concept based on his most recent pixel art in the art thread in fact.

I will investigate Home further though. $2 is nothing. Thanks for the heads up.

I couldn't resist the old school collectors edition. I am weak.

This does look very interesting. A nice look and the collector's edition looks fun, like old school adventure game extras.

Finished Lone Survivor today so i'm not really up for another one just yet but that looks decent, especially for that price. Gotta love the Indie game scene right now, it's b-b-b-bargainous!

When I read the title I though someone was going to localise or remake capcom's nes game sweet home...

I got my physical, limited edition yesterday. Very professionally and well done. Paper maps, a secret envelope and a real floppy disc

I bought and completed this the other day, it's an interesting game, but annoying you can't save it, even if it's only short. I was hoping it'd be more of a survival horror too.

                      How short are we talking?

A couple of hours or so I'd say. There seem to be lots of different endings, but I at least like the option of cutting a session short without losing my progress. I'm sure it'd be shorter on a 2nd play through though.

Played through this this evening. Like a 2D pixely Dear Esther, this joins the emerging Going For A Walk Simulator genre (also includes Silent Hill Shattered Memories and Sword & Sworcery). Actually, it's a genre I really like and seems like a great way to get a narrative out there in an engaging way (I'd love to make one some day). And like Dear Esther, this one seems very ambiguous but I didn't find it any where near as successful. I found the ending very abrupt and, while I have no real issue with ambiguity, it didn't give me enough of the story to hang on to. Just a bunch of pieces.

But the pixel graphics were good and I liked the style. The atmosphere worked. I would like to have seen them try to make it more creepy. I don't need monsters and certainly don't need combat but I think they could have really upped the eeriness.

Still a good experience and I admire what they have made with Home.

Auto saving checkpoints have been added in the latest version.

Just so y'all know, this has now hit the iOS store. Apparently control is absolutely fine (and it's not a game where quick reactions are a factor) and it works well on iPad.
